On the plus side I’m gathering excellent examples for my paper to be submitted to the British Journal of Ephemera entitled ‘The Passive- Aggressive use of the word ‘mate’ in British vernacular English on Internet Football Fora during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Finals’. Iceland doing well in what looks like a tough group. Five minutes of added time to hang on.
For the record Willy, I didn't tell you to "get over it" - what I did say was get over your dislike of Ronaldo and appreciate his talent. I disliked Maradonna, overlooked his personality and appreciated he was a flawed genius. I get that you don't like Ronaldo - you're not alone, but fabricating deflections and accusing him of luck, when his record stands for itself (84 international goals - all luck? Or some talent?). Feel free to pick apart his record in England, Spain and Champions League too.
Great disciplined defending and tactics by lceland. A well deserved draw against the mighty Argentina.
Excellent result for Iceland and excellent point to my surprise from Patrice Evra in the analysis, noting that Ronaldo actively enjoys the pressure and responsibility of carrying his team, whereas on today’s evidence, Messi doesn’t.
Great display by Iceland - almost a siege towards the end but some solid defending and great team ethic sees them come out with a draw - maybe Emgland weren't that **** in the Euros after all....(they were though )
Read back. My comment was all about his fluky hat trick and how everybody was gushing over him - in some cases probably literally. Yes he’s talented but the adulation after last night was ridiculous given what actually happened in the game. I never mentioned anything BUT last nights game. If it helps you to suggest I said something I didn’t, then go ahead. Doesn’t change my opinion of last night and the over-done reaction to the game.
Please can everyone stop sniping and just get on with enjoying the football. We have already seen goals, fantastic match ...and thus afternoon another great ( in an interesting way) match. This is turning into a better tournament than I expected... Looking forward to the battle of the kits later on tonight... Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
Good use of VAR in the Peru match - Peru get a penalty - and blast it so far over the bar it's heading into orbit
Peru did not deserve to lose against Denmark. But they did not advantage of their many great chances.
Nigeria not really showed up yet - poor perfrmance by them, Croatia not even out of 2nd gear so far and 1 up
Well, so now you can see how supporting Perú is so similar to supporting QPR. Just a lack of composure in the final 3rd did for us in the final third, or was it the weight of 30 million Peruvians back home on his shoulders, after qualifying for the first time in 36 years. Down but not out. We go again against France on Thursday. Vamos Perú!!!!
