I don't know why the pundits are so keen to agree with the penalty. He hangs a leg and kicks out at the defenders foot. Not sure I even know what a foul is any more...

 

As I say... non contact sport incoming.

Good to see the Peruvians all consoling him though.

The Peru one? Clearly a penalty. Great bit of skill and has his foot taken away.

 

Clearest of the day for me.

 

I have no problem with VAR overall, but that's the one thing the sport is going to need to grapple with: if everything that should be called a penalty is actually called, there will be far more penalties. My personal preference would be to keep it for most elements but not those judgment calls, simply because I think that the game is better if roughly 75% of all should-be-penalties are missed.
