As there are 48 teams (?) I guess they can find 3 host places? In 1966, there were only 16 teams with England the hosts. So the ratio would be the same in 2026.....
I get that but someone will miss out of qualifying through playing football, because those 3 nations paid Fifa the most and were awarded a joint hosting. How would you feel if a European space was taken away and given to one of those sides and it could mean Wales are the side to miss out. to me they shouldn't be giving 3 automatic spaces away. Yet those who win it have to qualify. not for me. I think it is a joke.
I agree with you but money talks and rules at FIFA - if Morocco had won the race, only one place was needed, but the ‘forecast’ profit for FIFA was only £4.5bn - the other bid promised over £8bn
I get it, but call me old fashioned, I thought it was a world cup and we could have 3 unqualifying nations there and the potential holders watch from afar. Fifa for me are an absolute joke and next to **** all has changed since the crooked ****ers Blatter and Platini have left. just seems the same old story.
Wales can only host the WC if we share with someone as we dont really have enough great venues to play the group stages and they cant keep playing on the millenium pitch as it will become unplayable having to many games in quick time playing on it......
The US (and probably Canada) are the next big markets to conquer. It is probably worth it to bring them further in. Good business choice but poor sporting choice, I guess. Then again, one has to wonder why China hasn't hosted one yet? Can't say I'd be hugely excited by a Moroccan WC, either. Would THEY have enough good grounds and facilities?
I've been to Morocco a few times and I would say yes.Given the 8 year preperation timescale they would be more than ready. Beautiful country.
The way it is a farce is to qualify teams like Wales have to beat teams from Europe who are heads and shoulders above any African or Asian sides... To make it fair we should all be clumped together that when the draw is made we can play anywhere in the world against any team in the competition.....That is what i would call a true WC....
If it was feasible it would already be in place. Most countries are not awash with money, plus the physical effect on players would be gruesome. Premier League players who travel to Asia and South America rarely play a full game in their first game back. Imagine the cost and player fatigue of being drawn in a group of: Australia China South Korea USA Wales
I agree that is the only way you get the best teams there, I actually believe the Euro's is a far better tournament than the world cup, there are generally no poor sides there and every game is competitive. Listening to the radio this morning, they are slaughtering the standard in the opening game and quite rightly so, I know Russia won 5-0 but they will struggle as are a poor side as well. As was said Torquay would have beaten KSA yesterday.
