They also look at the legacy it leaves, which was nothing after the Yanks last WC. The one in SA left many straddled with debt.

I’m sure China would get massive crowds, it’s a population thing. I’d guess the US crowds when considered against the population are actually quite poor.

The game in the US is **** & the interest minimal. Kids under 12 give away a free kick for heading the ball, FFS. The parents talk **** & have poor understanding of the game.

I went through a load of rules they want changing when talking to a load of refs over there. They’re ****ing mad, although the refs were interested in my opinion of their performance. They ref games daft. Three refs, no linesmen. Each ref takes control of a third of the pitch, with one having the final say.

Football is not for them & they should be kept away from hosting it ever.

You can't bigger crowds than what the stadiums hold. Virtually every game in the USA was a sell out.
Doesn't matter what the population is, the largest stadium you will get is 90,000, due to various regulations regarding sight lines and maximum distance from the centre circle with most of the others between 40 and 60,000 in most countries. So unless China had a larger number of stadiums with 70,000 plus capacities and filled them every time they still wouldn't beat the USA's average per game.

Isn’t FIFA primarily interested in how many watch it on TV, and the host country is merely the razzmatazz to draw in that audience?

This Yank will become an England supporter for the tournament. What do I have to know and what do I have to do? I already know the words to Land of Hope and Glory and Abide With Me. Learn to say "chips" instead of "fries?" Gain an affinity for Indian food? Exorcise the word "soccer" from my vocabulary and add "wot?" Hate on Scotland (I hate Mexico, does that count?)? Understand that it's OK to get pissed in the English context? And what about those flags? If I get the cross of St. George what should I write in the white spaces?

    Don't forget socks with sandles.

Try to get sunburned if at all possible. Integrate the words ****er, fanny, bellend, prick, twat, doodoo head, ****, knob, knobhead, arse and arsehole seamlessly into your vocabulary. Learn how to make tea properly, and drink it often (use boiling water, allow to stew for 2-3 minutes, strain the teabag). If you haven't shagged a fat bird yet, do it, we all have. And generally just act like a twat.

    This should get you started.

Oh and if you want to write something on your St. George's Cross flag, write justice for Tommy.

It will prove you as a proper patriot.

Of course they will mind you they'll have to cut the grass while they're there and when they play each other the Americans will have a wall for the whole match.

Awful country, eh? No wonder so many are leaving and no one wants to go live there instead of their own country.
