Also, big difference between wanting (preferring) to leave and then refusing to play if they don't get the move they want. I would think (hope) most of the players would be more professional than Rodwell. E.g. Oviedo who said he wants to move, but would still play for us if a move away doesn't happen
We're at a point in our history where anyone who doesn't want to be a part of our rise from the ashes can make use of the door. The senior first team players I could care less about as thier wages and poor performance have already decided their fates lie elsewhere. The young players..... If its true the likes of Honeyman want out I'd simply warn them, unless they go to a premier league club they may well end up wishing they were at Sunderland in the near future.
We need to speak to players like Honeyman without their agents being present. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a lovely lady called Margaret Byrne is Honeyman's agent....
I don't know but it's not that much of a stretch to suggest us selling players ensures Ellis is paid quicker and thus someone in such a position as an agent could help influence this........ Oh and aliens built the pyramids and 9/11 was an inside job
Just read that she is cattermoles agent and he could be just as hard to shift as Rodwell due to the length of his contract.
just need to hope our owners sort her out with the other agents. But it's a reality check after the positivity. Nothings easy with us .
I’ve heard today that she is cattermole’s agent She has also been rumoured to have contacted the club requesting that he gets a free transfer and that his contract gets paid up in full
I want to be a millionaire and that ain't going to happen so tell her to go and f*ck herself. If Cattermole, Honeyman or anyone else wants to leave let them go when the price is right....this to me is a big problem of our past. They don't want to play....get someone who does. The new owner is tapping into to the fans and their enthusiasm for putting in new seats etc. Maybe some of the players who want away could help out too?
**** them. If they don’t wanna be a part of it get rid. We as fans are going to have to bite the bullet to an extent and expect this. We’re in league one now.
Pretty sure that’s no longer allowed. Think it was Gordon Taylor and his lot said that all professional footballers must have a representative present when contractual discussions are held. Can’t find anything which confirms or contradicts mind. Think I heard them on talkshite talking about it
You'll be able to talk to them without their agents but you wont be able to bar their agents from being invited for contract talks - nor should you as the players have chosen to have them there and you'll lose trust if you tell them they can't be. That said, you can speak to them generally about why they want to leave and see if you can resolve it without going into contract issues. Key to Sunderland next year are/were players like Asoro, Maja, Watmore, McNair, Honeyman, Gooch, etc. If they want out then things actually will start to feel a touch bleak once more. The "senior pros" can **** off to be honest, though I'd be happy if one or two of them proved me wrong!
We want most of them gone anyway. Don't care if asoro goes, hasn't shown nearly enough and struggled to score at U23 level, unlikely to be a goal scorer anytime soon. Honeyman much the same, we've waited long enough, he ain't getting any bigger, not even filling out. As talented as he is teams with a light weight cms in their side will always struggle. He can go for me. Atleast Gooch has filled out. He'll do well this season imo.
