Can I point out, not one Charlton fan I’ve ever met, that is aware of Ben Hayes, has any respect for him. They know him for what he is.

Can I make a suggestion? Just join in the general discussion, as for example Smudger has done recently. I gave you a couple of opportunities,. Which you chose to ignore, preferring to engage with Royston. It might enhance the forum, which isn't happening.

There's a gag somewhere there about engaging with Royston, or getting engaged with Royston, or how engaging Royston is. But I can't untangle it :emoticon-0145-shake

Does anyone know when Bowyer is contracted to ?

I am assuming he has a contract beyond this summer but in his former role ?

I would guess Bowyer's only contract is the one he had as an assistant manager to Karl Robinson. Whether that one is still current and valid since he took the job as caretaker manager I couldn't say, but I hope it is.

Karl Robinson's contract as Charlton Manager was for two and a half years - it would have expired in the summer of 2019.
I don't know whether Lee Bowyer's contract as his assistant ends at the same time but that would seem a logical guess.

However we all know the value of contracts.
If Duchatelet or the new owners don't want Bowyer to continue as our manager his contract won't protect him.
(I am assuming somebody will take charge of the Club at some point in the near future...)

    Fair comment.

The reason I asked is that the only comment we have had from the management in the last 4 weeks was Jackson’s comment that he and Bowyer are effectively working in the dark. I assume they are scouting players & talking to agents regardless of the likelihood that they will be retained, but it’s a laughable position to be in.

I agree that it is not right that our manager and his assistant have apparently not even been told by anybody where they stand during these vital summer months.

We have to assume this is the situation, because if JJ's comment had been factually wrong or had been misunderstood, then the Club could have issued some sort of statement correcting it. We have heard nothing, so we naturally draw our own conclusions.

Being wholly unsure of their own futures even just a few weeks ahead cannot be helping Bowyer and Jackson with the already difficult job of trying to hold the core of our 2017-18 squad together and secure new signings to strengthen it further.
This situation should not be allowed to continue for more than another few days.

I know I said recently I wouldn't comment further on this take-over, but perhaps I should not have included Sunday evenings in that.
I'm hoping doggedly that the latest voices saying there could well be an announcement by the 15th of June are right.

Funny that, as most Charlton fans I know do have respect for him.

With one or two notable exceptions :emoticon-0178-rock:

Royston can't fool me however hard he tries to hide it. He doesn't like Ben. I have my methods.

Royston seems to have a problem with virtually everyone who has any kind of contact with the hierarchy at the Club. Not sure why.

He doesn't have to like them, but as fellow Charlton fans, he should at least have a modicum of respect of their opinions.

    Niceness doesn't cost anything.

You do talk a lot of pious nonsense at times.

Charlton’s lengthy decline started in 2006, not as CARD would have it, in 2014.

Murray was at the helm then...surrounded by a small but very loyal coterie of vocal “fans” - Hayes and Everitt being two prime examples. They repeatedly defended “their Muzza” to the hilt...or at least until Everitt was sacked for Gross Misconduct. Hypocrites both, sh1te no ambition asset stripper owners were fine so long as snouts were firmly in the buffet or free bar.

I know this narrative won’t suit you @Slackbladder but it can be verified by many who witnessed it at the time.

We can argue about style or approach, but I think Royston has a point.

Charlton Athletic has been in decline since 2006. And for all the distance we have fallen, a large part of that fall happened before Duchatelet bought the Club.
Anybody who has been at the heart of CAFC during these last twelve years (or periods of that time) should really be explaining to fans why things have gone so wrong on their watch.

I have no beef with any of them personally, I've never met them. But our marked decline is there for the whole world to see.
And it seems the more detail we care to go into, the more unpleasant it begins to look.

And I'm back from the French Catalan coast after a bit of R&R, which involved drinking some of the best red wines from Languedoc-Roussillon in their various beach bars and mixing with the locals, badly! See that were as close to completing as before I left the UK.

I agree that our problems started long before Roland turned up. He's foolishness ownership has exasperated them. I remember not to long back we were hailed as a "model club" and example to others.

    Now... Were a bloody joke.

Pious? Better than being a bully, which you are without a doubt on here. Enough people are telling you but you just continue to slag off all and sundry until you manage to either get new posters to disappear as soon as they turn up, or others to restrict their postings for fear of your unsubtle 'witty' repartee in belittling them.

It's a shame really as without the insults and bile, your posts can be funny and informative.

Not disputing the rise and fall of the Murray empire, just what you expect some of his foot soldiers to do. They hardly committed murder for him, just supported the Club as they both thought best. As you do.

And as for noses in the trough, it's funny how both the examples used, bought their own season tickets and both sat in the East Stand. And if you really think either of them can be 'bought' for a sausage roll and a half of lager, then you really don't know them.

I know this narrative won't suit you @Royston Vasey, but it can be verified by many who witnessed it at the time.

Unlike the Perks woman... nothing against Mr Perks but I wish his worse half would just stay at home.
