...is now well and truly at the bottom of your Christmas card list, or if you want, top of your hit list? After today Harry Bentley is on both of my lists. I know I only had very modest stakes on an e/w patent at Newmarket, but having seen Calyx, then Maksab duly oblige, my hope were resting on Addicted To You. After seeing it come in to be fav, I was hoping for a place at the very least. What happened? He bloody fell off at the ruddy start I've seen better riding displays on the bloody beach at Yarmouth
Always reluctant to "back" a horse with Crowley or Spencer on board. Although Spencer did have a winner for me today. Always happy to see Buick on board, a big plus in my book. Also quite happy if Dettori, Moore or Havlin are on board
I hate to blame a jockey, honestly, it just doesn't feel right. Having said that I am now no great fan of one G. Lee. I mean, I couldn't possibly have picked the wrong horse (weakened), especially as QM had a hot tip for it?
It's been a while since I had any real reason to maintain such a strong distrust but its still That Barry F*cking Geraghty. By a country mile. After Barry its easily the aforementioned Jamie had-the-race-won-but-lost Spencer. Joe Fanning has also caused me just as much anguish as Barry and JP over the years but I like Joe so he can still get a card.
Agreed on Crowley, rancid jockey who would get a 1/20 shot beat in a two horse race with the other runner stuck in the stalls.I wouldn't touch anything Barry Gerathy is on either, that's more a case that he seems to has lost his touch and I'm sure even good old JP is getting a little frustrated with his performances this season. never been a big fan of Ruby either, that's more a personality thing as he is a greedy ignorant fuker!!!!!
With regards to jumps jockeys, Ruby doesn't see my brass too often anymore, man doesn't know how to jump the last fence. I tend to back Paul Townend on a Mullins horse if there is the usual 7 in a race to choose from. STD I really don't rate so usually steer clear of the little ginger. Tom O'Brien I like and Brian Hughes also.
Wouldn't say any particular jockey ever puts me off backing a horse but two that I can't seem to catch right are Dettori and SDS. Tailed off last when I back them but win as easy as they like when I don't. Jockeys I like are Atzeni, Tudhope, Kirby, PJ McDonald. Particularly Kirby who works hard and travels all over the country for rides, tries just as hard to win a claimer at Lingfield as he would to win a group race at Royal Ascot. Top professional.
Danny Tudhope, Kirby, Moore probably the 3 that make me feel even more confident. Big fan of PJ McDonald, Josephine, Kevin Stott + Nicola Currie too. Spencer + Crowley put me off a lot, not a fan of Winston, Probert or Dwyer
Luke Morris king of the AW too, Hanagan's better now the fame has worn off and he's back with Fahey, seems to be like the old Hanagan again
Sean Levey Way back when me and the Don had a share in a plodder he rode for us What a gent saw him a few years later at York and he still remember ed me and took time to chat
Ryan Moore can just fade away for me not what folk think he is. like Franny Norton as a journey man and also the likes or Luke morris, silvestre De souse, Sean and James Bowen along with Josephine Gordan and Nicola currie.
Agreed with Geraghty. He seems to have really lost his way and without BvD he would have had a lean ol season. Maybe the chunky JP retainer is enough without having to worry about winning. I've noticed a few times recently over in Ireland that he hasn't ridden JP horses when at a particular meeting but ridden for other connections instead. Couldnt imagine AP doing a similar thing when he had the retainer.
Would appear Crowley won't be getting a Christmas card from Raul Da Silva this year either following a little disagreement at Goodwood this afternoon.
I would quite like to buy Raul a beer or 2 for doing that.... if he could sort out Pat Cosgrave next he can have a magnum!
Crowley received hospital treatment for facial injuries (allegedly) caused by RdS in the changing room after the first race. I wonder what that was all about - both unplaced
