Not entirely sure why we have to wait until after the World Cup (which ends three weeks before the window shuts) to hold meetings. Plenty of transfers -- including transfers of players involved in the World Cup -- have and will happen beforehand. Heck, half the Portuguese team has been sold already.

 

Not having that our transfer relationship is set in stone.

That's a fair point. We needed those extra players to rotate around our European commitments but the gamble backfired when we dropped out of Europe and failed to qualify the following season. I agree that it's part of our DNA to see players like Mane and VVD 'passing through' on their way to better things. My comments were more about the re-signing of players like Davis, JWP, Forster and Tadic who I thought deserved new contracts but people got frustrated because their performances have, perhaps, not been as consistently high as they hoped.

 

Very true. No agent in his right mind would allow his player to sign until after the WC. At worst, he will have the same value. At best, it could almost double!

 

Maybe it will be a player exchange for Adam Lallana...

The use of arm twisting in the same post as mentioning Salah must warrant a prize for poor taste.

One or two armed, it will be interesting to see how Salah does next season. The history of football is littered with one season wonders, notably as strikers. Beattie?

But if forced, I'd take a punt on Mo and relieve Klopp of the embarrassment of over-seeing his decline. Reckon he'd score 80% of the chances we'd create - so about 4 goals in a full season!
