Sky Sports News @SkySportsNews BREAKING: The FA, Premier League and EFL announce new two-week break in February from 2019-20 season. #SSN
Typical, I bet it's during my birthday anarl ffs... I've always liked the idea of a winter break, as long as it wasn't over Christmas/New Year. I'm fine with this.
Carabao Cup @Carabao_Cup - Extra time removed - ABBA penalty format removed - Seedings removed - VAR at @premierleague stadia
This break should have been done straight after FA Cup 3rd round weekend. Joe Public have knack all money to spend and live for Jan 31st payday. That 2 week break then would have seen better attendances across that period I suspect. Teams left in Carabao Cup could play on the thursday and then into the league on a Sunday. I'm sure however joe Public will have had no consultation over when they'd like a break though.
It's just the Premier League and it's not a full on break. 5 matches one weekend and 5 the next. FA cup 5th round to midweek. No FA Cup replays.
It won't be a break. The top clubs will be playing a lucrative tournament or friendlies in Dubai/ Qatar/China. Further lining the greedy ****ers pockets
Agreed, should be deducted 6 points as punishment if they do , they have whinged for years they want a break so they should be made to treat it as such!
I am not against a winter break, but the reasons behind having it seems not to stack up. They say that British players are exhausted after a long hard season when it comes to tournaments like the World cup. I saw some figures the other day, that by far there are more foreign players playing in the world cup that play for English teams, I think the figure was 124, so if you take out the English squad, then you have 100 foreign players playing in the world cup that play for English teams. I suppose other countries don't have a full team of players play in England, but many, like Belgium do have a good percentage.
I’ve never understood the need for a break. Most teams have squads that can cope with international breaks, if Man City have 14 players away, tough, play some of the kids. Give them a chance.
