Seen a lot more negative Grayson postings on here. He appears to be the blame for Leeds not winning at Ipswich. FACT 1 - Leeds were outplaying Ipswich throughout the first half and had they taken their chances would have been 2 or 3 in front. Leeds were without injured strikers Becchio, Somma and Paynter. Who else could Grayson have picked to do the job? Nunez? Havent seen him score with his head yet where all the chances were falling to. He might have missed the first goal! FACT 2 - Aidan White was fouled by Thomas - free-kick to Leeds and no sending off. Is Grayson to blame that neither the well positioned linesman nor referee made the right decision? FACT 3 - Leeds were without injured defenders Bromby, Bruce, Parker. Grayson chose O'Brien for the bench over the only other fit defender Connolly. Would seem sensible because its easier to cover a full-back position with a centre half than a centre-half with a full-back. Who else could Grayson have picked? FACT 4 - Given good money i doubt Grayson would have signed some of the above players. THe fact he has been forced into making stabs on free transfers gives him less options than i am sure he would like. Difficult to blame Grayson for not plugging the defence on peanuts whilst all funds are spent on updating a perfectly good East Stand. FACT 5 - The initial goal was poor defending from Kisnorbo giving Spotland enough time to control, smoke a ***, turn and score. Strangely we dont hear much criticism of Kisnorbo who has so far come back a shadow of his former self. Regaining match fitness after injury i hear the defence? Well isnt O'Brien coming back from being out ALL pre-season. FACT 6 - Their late winner was as lucky as they come. A goal right from the Paul Scholes "How to score perfect deflected goals" book. Was Grayson to blame for the spin on the ball? FACT 7 - Mr Jewell admits his side had been lucky. Seems to me that too many fans have already pressed the panic button. We have played only 5 games and although its not the start any of us wanted we all know we have been unfortunate so far. We hit Southampton on a day everything they hit went in. We were very very good at West Ham and could have taken all 3 pts. We were very good against Hull City. We were very good at Ipswich in the first half. We looked better than Middlesboro when we had the same number of players of the teams. There is an awful long way to go this season!!
i am a grayson supporter, everyone on the board pretty much knows that but i said it at the time... 'please dont bring on a defender and let them attack us' within seconds he did. That was a tactically poor decision. And also why not put connolly on the bench instead of O'Brien. Lees is a CB playing at RB remember and also connolly is much more reliable
Connolly was Mr Reliable last season but strangely hes been awful this season - as bad as O'Brien! im wondering whether he is carrying a knock? Good point re Lees who could have covered CB though. If Connolly was fit maybe he would have been a better choice? As for the substitution who knows what would have happened if we had stayed 3-4-2 - we might have lost 6-1 We might have won 4-0? Its a pretty normal managerial reponse to bring off the least effective defender you have (no good at set-pieces) for another defender. I am sure the red card would have ensured the same response of Ipswich attacking more whoever we had on the field and i wouldnt have fancied Bullard coming on a passing through our 3 defenders with the likes of Chopra having more room.
Grayson got his tactics all wrong (not for the first time and against others who probably told him so).

GRAYSON HAS BEEN UNLUCKY SO FAR AND ITS NOT THE WORST START AS i POINTED OUT TO bLUE WHO UNFORTUNATELY CAN'T READ.2 points in 85/86 under Wilko
After the first 2 games it was the worst leeds start in 31 years after 5 played it is the worst in 14 years.
The facts are that we would have won had Aidy White not been (wrongly now I've seen it) sent off. Protecting a slender lead in the second half with 10 men would have seen any manager put a defender on. We have suffered from horrendous luck this season and have deserved to pick up at least 10 points so far. People on here have hit the "mindless panic" button far too readily and have refused to actually look at the good performances. We've dropped at least 4, probably 6, points in 2 games in which the opposition manager came out and said we were very unlucky to have players sent off, not to mention that Jewell has admitted Ipswich's great fortune for their second. We need to regroup and start again after the break.
The facts are that we would have won had Aidy White not been (wrongly now I've seen it) sent off. ....... That is not facts at all!!!! A football game is for 90 mins not 60 mins. You can say no more then I can say they may or may not have scored at 11 v 11 they was getting at us more and we only had a 1 goal lead.
As the poor run continues (and its not only a few games, the poor form has continued where we left off last season) expect more pressure on Grayson, and rightly so because it is simply not good enough. Ultimately he is to blame for Ipswich defeat..... he has failed to buy or organise a competent defence in over two seasons and has failed to deliver a striker that can score regulary to replace Beckford, Yes we have Becchio but this is what happens when you rely on one player. He is the Manager and he is responsible, whether you like to admit it or not I also agree there is a long way to go in this season, but does anybody believe we can achieve anything cos I don't, staying in the league is about the best we can hope for with a team that ships this many goals, and if we stop scoring.... we are done for. I would like to see a new and AMBITIOUS manager come in, who knows how to get the best out of his players and knows how to organise a defence, so we at least have a chance of success, rather than this feeling of knowing whats going to happen, the same old negative tactics, all over the place desperate defending, 85th minute like for like subs, etc etc Obviously 9 wins in 27 is good enough for you, or put another way good performances and no points.... they say good teams are those than pick up points when not playing well, well we manage consistently to play well AND throw them away, so what chance have we got. rant over Im sorry but I really cant understand why anybody can not at the least question Grayson's ability given the disgraceful end to last season, and the equally disgraceful start to this season OK rant definately over now
I was at the game on Saturday, and I think the reaction to this is ridiculous tbh. We outplayed them first half, they got booed off and were really poor. After Aidy White's unfair sending off, they found space and then got lucky at the end. We still had chances to win it, with Gradel and Keogh wasting from good positions. It wasn't anything to do with poor tactics, poor performances or poor discipline really. It was just a bad referee decision and luck. I wouldn't single out anyone for playing particually badly. The keeper was safe and made a few decent saves - his distribution was bit poor, but the pitch was soaked to be fair. Tom Lees defended well and his crossing was great first half, he's starting to support Snoddy well. Aidy White was solid and got forward as well, didn't deserve to be sent off at all, he was pushed by JET who fell over him. Kisnorbo and O'Dea were actually good, they defended well together. Keogh and McCormack were good upfront, Keogh did miss a good chance in the second half though, when he tried to pass instaed of shoot. Snoddy and Gradel were dangerous and did well even after the sending off, although Max should have done better from a few chances. Howson and Clayton were good until the second half when Ipswich had that bit of extra space, and Jimmy Bullard finding space and keeping possesion for Ipswich. I've seen a lot of stuff about Howson not being a centremid etc. But Clayton really didn't play any better. People seem to have some bias against Howson, which I don't understand. Obviously CM isn't his best position, but if you watched the game yesterday, you'd see that Howson didn't go forward at all. He was clearly being told to stay a bit further back, and he was in the holding position. If we are playing 4-4-2, we need to combative, energetic midfielders which both Howson and Clayton are. It'd be great to get the best out of Howson's attacking quality but if we sacrifice that for the sake of a better, more solid team then he won't be taking a staring role. As for the tactic stuff, what idiot manager would leave us with 3 defenders and an attacking midfield. It would have been ridiculous. He had to bring a defender on, and the players didn't do that badly after that. Town dominated with Bullard keeping possession well for them, but on the counter attack Keogh, Snoddy and Gradel did well and I think we should have actually scored from one of them.
Our defence was quality until the sending off - which wasn't a correct decision. As for an 'ambitous manager' what does that mean? I sure SG is turning down money for players "No Ken, don't worry about it, I'd prefer the East Stand to be improved, I don't need any players". The fact is, our squad isn't good enough for promotion. We haven't strengthened the necessary areas, and our squad is too weak. No manager turns down money, and SG will know more than anyone that he needed to strengthen certain positions. And what are these 'negative tactics' we played on Saturday? We played a midfield of Clayton, Howson, Snoddy and Gradel with Aidy White at leftback. That's an attacking line up. It wasn't 'all over the place defending', we defending well until a bit of luck went Town's way at the end. It was 85th minute for subs because we only had 10 players, he couldn't take off one of our centremids, Gradel and Snoddy had been doing well on the counter attack.
When I say ambitious I mean somebody who inspires the team and us for that matter, I guess Im just tired of his excuses When I say all over the place defending and negative tactics, Im talking about most performances I have seen lately and his love for the 4-5-1 which thankfully he has stopped using.... I have strong opinions, I'm not always right, but happy to share them.... :-/
