Birmingham and Coventry had scouts at the Leeds game apparently looking at Scotland. I know he has come in for a lot of stick regarding his weight etc but he does look pretty good. I saw some of the pre season games and he now looks fit, sharp and looks a lot leaner than last season. He made a huge impact coming off the bench against Leeds. He could well be our impact sub coming on for the last half hour or even starting up top alongside Chopra. The fact is that Scotland has got goals in him and we should stick with him and dump that lazy miskin! The goal he scored on Saturday was just a fantastic turn and shot after he collected the ball from midfield. When he came on he held the ball up well, kept posession and he set up Andrews for the winner. He says that he wants to stay at Town and has worked hard in training and proving to Jewell that he is worth his place in the team. Good on him I say as he has shown a lot of resilience to come back fitter and sharper than last season. If we are going to sell a striker sell miskin!
I agree. miskin is called miskin for a reason - some of the opportunities he missed last season were unbelievable. He did have a good run and showed some real talent when he applied himself, but unfortunately I just dont think he scores enough. He is an out and out striker and so should score more. Scotland on the other hand does have some good link up play, as we saw for his deft flick to andrews for Saturdays winning goal. I would say we have Chops/Priskin/The Duke for the out and out striker role, whereas Murphy/Scotland/JET for the deep striker role. More than enough strikers, so considering the above its time Priskin left us - his only redeeming factor seems to be his relative youthfulness as compared to the others...
The fact Scotland is asking to stay and fight for his place says more to me, too many jumping ship first sign they get, is he wants to stay and he knows there is interest for him elsewhere, thats always a positive in my book. Plus aye 100% dump Priskin asap.
I would argue Priskin's technical ability is far superior to the majority of the squad and I'd like to see him play, but that said I agree out of the two Scotland will score goals. 10 last term in a difficult season in a team not creating much isn't as bad as everyone thought. I would say on Priskin's defence looking at the majority of goals from Norris last season, they were from Priskin assists. He offers a lot when the ball is on the deck and with good players around him could be a dangerous player. As for the predicted response of 'Luxury' and 'waste of space' fair points but he offers us something different and personally I dont want a team of 'Hard workers' as we did in the Roy keane era with no creativity atleast the likes of JET and Priskin however rare it is can create something from nothing.
I would say it's all down to money. I agree that Scotland offers a stronger goal threat, but if someone came in with a figure of 750k-1mill I would be tempted. I imagine he is on fairly high wages and would like to see some of the young strikers like Murry coming of the bench instead. Also PJ bought in the Duke who is similar to Scotland so once he is fit (which he should be soon!) I would imagine PJ giving him a run out.
I have been really impressed with Scotland's attitude, he clearly wants to stay and has worked damn hard to get a place in a team full of potential goalscorers. If he can keep this attitude then definitely work keeping
I still think scotland has a role to play in the squad. why not give him a start alongside chopra and see if they can develop some understanding. i feel at the moment that chopra isn't really getting that many chances and scotland, with his decent hold up play and neat passes could provided some ammo for chops
You have to hand it to Jason Scotland; his goal was magnificent and he set up the second and he was a real worry for Leeds to handle. I don't think Priskin would have had the same impact. I'd prefer we keep them both if we can - why get rid of players who on their day can all contribute something? Its going to be a long season with injuries and suspensions and some going 'off form' - the more alternatives we have the better. But right now if it did come down to a choice, then Scotland would get my vote over Priskin.
Last season I absolutely hated Scotland. He was slow, overweight, lazy, missed sitters and in general was nowhere near good enough. This season I have been amazed by the turnaround. His fitness levels look a lot better and I think this has made his all round play a lot better. I actually rate Priskin as a penalty box player but we dont play like a team that can afford the luxury of having 1 player who does nothing other than poach goals.
