Savello. Was a fine handicapper in his prime particularly on good ground. I’d expect him to be very competitive today on the advertised good/good to soft ground off his current mark. The others I’ve backed are Third Act and Treakle Tart but Savello is my nap. Have a good day.

These Epsom handicaps maybe tricky but I’ve come up with a new system following hours of study and research. The system is......Horses named after your son ridden by a jockey who shares the name of your daughter. George 11/1 is the first qualifier to test my new system in the card commencer. Let’s see how we go though I suspect a dedicated thread maybe some way off. Good luck all.

Not tips but my attempt at the Worcester card would be:

    1:45 - Dr Waluigi 10/3 WIN/Hurricane Rita 28/1 EW
    2:20 - Gustave Mahler 11/2
    2:55 - Mad Jack Mytton 10/3
    3:30 - Black Kalanisi 5/4
    4:05 - Top Of The Charts 9/4
    5:00 - Knight Of Noir 10/1 EW
    5:35 - Mac Bella 16/1 EW
    6:05 - King Vince 6/1

    Have a great day.

In the first bumper the money has been coming all morning for Allez Karakoz so worth checking him out in the parade ring. I also like Kraquer on breeding so take a look at him too. Earth Moor should take all the beating in the second bumper but is short enough at 13/8.

In the 5.00 Rolling Maul has had a nice break and runs off his lowest hurdles mark for 4 years. I think he has a stonking chance in this if he looks fit and ready to go.

I won't be shocked if he doesn't win. I'll be delighted if he does.

I'll be backing him for no great scientific reason. Just that 10/1 for an Agha Khan bred Derby colt is too good to pass up.

    Doncaster

    *1.55 New Winds 11/8

Good debut. Looked above average to me so think 11/8 is a fair enough price

    2.30 Langholm 25/1 EW

Trainer usually gets a good 2yo. Last year sent Santry out to win on first day of season at Doncaster he went on to be second at Royal Ascot to Sioux Nation. Langholm sent off fav on debut been off since March wonder if little problem or just waiting for some quicker ground. Think could go well at a big price.

    3.40 Urbino 3/1

Really like Urbino today. Running off 85 today the majority of his family were at least listed class and think he can be as well. Bumped in to nice one of Gosdens last time. Only carries 8 stone 6 with Atzeni on hopefully he will get the trip.

    5.25 Sam Gold 11/8

Don’t think he will be getting beat today. Think he is a very very nice horse for this season.

Completely disagree. If you play ew on a 4/1 or 5/1 shot then it seems pointless but when you're at 16/1, 20/1 and bigger then well worth it. Hypothetically I have £200 to spend and I'm looking at the race. I don't think Saxon Warrior should be so short so in my opinion it's a big risk to put it all in that and even if I'm wrong I've come out with at best £400. So why not look at a big price. The one I've gone for now around 20/1 that's 4/1 for place odds. So with my hypothetical £200 I go £100 ew and if it grabs a place I'm £500 back. £100 more than backing SW for win. But the added bonus is that it might not just place there is a chance that it does better and wins then I've made much more. If the favourite was so short and I really really thought it was bullet proof and fancied it then I'd agree with you back it or leave it alone. But, and this is just my opinion, I'm not all that taken with the favourite so I'm happy to spend (and maybe waste) my money looking for sonwthing else in the race. If that makes me a mug then mug I am .

    Epsom

    2.00 Court House 6/1

Really like some of his form. Still think was unlucky against Gronkowski then didn’t do too bad last time getting beat off long odds on shot. Bigger field should suit better 6/1 fair enough.

    Anna Nerium 2.35 9/2

I’m not 100% who it was talking about this one on TV the other day (Youngish lad) maybe assistant to Hannon or something but he was so bullish about her chances today. They think she is a lovely filly and that a bit softer ground will suit so I have been sucked in

    Breton Rock 3.10 7/2

Best horse in the race bit of soft ground and Moore up. Has won first run of season a few times

    3.45 Storm Over 20/1

Looked progressive last season. Hopefully just needed run first time out. With a good trainer with sprinters and won’t mind the ground. Just feel a lot of these aren’t going to improve and this one open to improvement has to improve mind but at big price worth a shot ?

Also done Brian The Snail in the 5.50 if the wind op has worked he will win.

  14. Totally agree - all depends how you approach having a bet. I've gone each way on a 12/1 shot so if it's placed I have doubled my money. Happy enough with that. And like you I don't think the favourite is necessarily as good as is being made out.

Massive price means nothing if he isn't the best horse.

I'm confident this is a one horse race, and whether you like his price or not, Saxon Warrior is standout <ok>
