WELBECK is certainly a hit speaking as a SAFC supporter, i would sign him tommorow if i had the chance.
Sunderland would be a good choice. Let O'shea take on the other team play a pin point cross with the back of his heel to Kiko. You know the stuff O'shea does everyday.
Well OP, you got some decent replies, perhaps there are some genuine football fans out there !!!! Personally I have always had a soft spot for Welbeck, probably because he is a local lad, but I have to say that in his early days of Youths/reserves, I didn't think he was going to make it. I agree with the Sunderland fans that his time there was very productive and helped his development but it remains to be seen whether or not he will get many games this season for our first team. I hope he is a regular on the bench and gets a fair few appearances, as I think he will continue to develop as a player and hopefully at United.
You should have more faith in your fellow posters 63!lol. I really think he will become a special player at United, I just hope he is given a real chance and not irregular cameo appearances as some have stated. Is there a more naturally gifted Forward of his age playing in England?I dont think so, hopefully he will get the break he needs, I would happily give him Berba`s spot.
I hope Danny isnt out for too long, he has started the season brilliantly and has added a real dynamism to our attack, his movement and work rate really opens up gaps for Rooney & co to exploit.
nice use of the bump to prove yourself right as regards the first few games this season, areba. welbeck has been electric up front, works extremely well with rooney and co. gutted he'll be out,it will make it more difficult for him to reclaim the spot he was attempting to wrestle from chicarito, but im sure he'll relish the challenge.
Well if you compare him to some of our other first team squad like Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher and Berbatov, I don't think most people would have rated them as Utd quality back when they were only 20. And you could say the same about other great players like Zidane and Shearer at that age - they were talented but hadn't yet developed the footballing intelligence and all round game that made them the legends they are. Danny still has a long way to go and a lot to learn, but there's no reason he can't be good enough for us if he keeps up his current rate of progression over the next few years. But that's not the case and hasn't been for the past two decades. We've always made space for young players who might be a bit of a gamble cos our squad has almost always been strong enough to cope. Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Butt, Ronaldo, Bebe, Macheda, Richardson, Miller, Rossi, Possebon, Manucho and Diouf were all relative gambles when we threw them into the team at such an early age. Some of them worked, some of them didn't, but the team carried on being successful regardless. If anything Liverpool are the ones who can't afford the gamble, cos a mistake for you guys could make the difference between 4th and 5th, and thus set your rebuilding process back by a full season. You also don't have the revenue and appeal to support a squad of similar quality to Utd until you are back in the CL. For example, there's an interesting article here about how Liverpool played better this weekend without Carroll: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-after-Liverpool-play-better-without-him.html So if Carroll doesn't come through, who will replace him? NGog? If Welbeck doesn't come through, we have Hernandez and Berbatov both ready to take their chance, and Owen and Macheda as further backup.
It was as much laziness on my part but a touch of I told you so never hurt anyone! Swarbs Even SAF didnt rate ZZ in 1997/8. The strength and depth of our current squad is unparalleled in English Football, only R.Madrid have as many options. I think signing Carrol was a costly mistake by Liverpool, he is a decent option to have coming off the bench but he is not mobile enough for me to be considered a starting striker for a title challenging team.
Exactly. To these clowns, if you haven't got a fancy foreign name or you haven't bought them on FIFA then they aren't good enough. ****ers the lot of em!!
Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge can see that Welbeck possesses great ability and will be a big player for United in the not too distant future. Maybe if we call him Romario or Ronaldo people will see how good he is.
