Just like Larsson & Grosicki who may be moving on before the new season ? Even Irvine ? Only Garcia spanned a world cup tournament adequately as a City player in my mind. Jelly left within less than 1 full season of his WC appearances.
If Grosicki moves it'll be AFTER the WC. So, he's a City player whilst at the tournament. Jelavic didn't leave us until the following season by the way... ps I thought this was about Europeans
Aye - 'twas the front end he'd been with us less than a full season. Left at the end of the summer window in '15
You might have to amend the thread title again, as under your 'active' rule, nobody can qualify for at least another year.
The title's long been irrelevant after me forgetting about Garcia & Jelly - and all the other buggers who may come out of the woodwork. The question now is will any of our players start if they are still our players between June 14th and July 14th this year ?
Seb is Sweden's vice captain, I think he's got a good chance of starting too. Also he's on 98 caps so I can see them having his 100th cap in Russia.
I just checked and he started their last four games, I hadn't realised he was starting so often, so it looks like you're right and he will start.
Contracts usually run to the end of June (I think). Does this mean they are our players early doors but if their teams reach the knockout stages they’ll then be free agents?
Irvine is the one to follow for me, the others are probably ex-players in due course. Will be catch 22 as usual, hope he does well but if he does the Allams will be licking their lips at the money he will make them from transfer fees.
Who was our first player to be called up to a national team? and presuming that would be a player from shall we say a lesser nation, who was our first player to play in the world cup finals?
Alan Jarvis played three times for Wales while with us (66/67 season), all in the home internationals against England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but I've no idea if he was the first.
