<peacedove>Jurgen Klopp is good at getting to the finals but always come out second best.
It is time he is the winner.

We need to win something next season. What do you think we really need to win?

Keeping our players may depend on success.

    Oh wow... what a poll.

You do realise we are in an ultra competitive league and not even 3rd best in it this year so to put two cups....

Any trophy would be nice. But it's getting to the point where it's harder and harder with city and Utd.

In many ways the story of atletico Madrid is what we should be aiming for.

They won the copa in 2012/13 then title in 2013/14, reached two cl finals and have taken the Europa. They are in a bloody tough place playing third string to the classic violin

If we could win the fa cup and be top 4 next year I would be delighted.

It's about consistency and improving year on year. There's not much further we can go right now except to build consistency and be better defensively.

This year we conceded 2 goals per game v the top half and scored 2. We have to improve

    Bundesliga Winner: 2010-2011, 2011-2012.
    German Cup Winner: 2011-2012.
German Super Cup Winner: 2013, 2014.
German Manager of the Year Winner: 2011, 2012.
    Champions League Runner-up: 2012-2013, 2017-2018.
    Football League Runner-up: 2015-2016.
    Europa League Runner-up: 2015-2016.

I do not think "always" means what you think it means.

Sure, winning a medal is nice but I prefer the boot room philosophy that tomorrow you're last year's winner. So we lost a final but it's one game out of many in a season. Why does losing a final lessen the sweetness of winning the semi? If that's the philosophy, we might as well go out in the first round, or not even qualify. Kenny won a final and they sacked him. And I recall a whole bunch of fans who didn't have problem one with that. But what I remember most is the joy of seeing his grin in the dugout.

There is joy in Utd fans wishing they also had a manager who made them feel joyous instead of barely grateful.

Yeah, the thing is we had a great run all year of entertainment which other clubs cannot say they had.

Especially there is a real draw from Feb to may if you've nothing really to play for.

We all enjoyed the run I think.

I wish we could top it off but enjoying just the game itself compared to turgid rubbish thats barely watchable like under rodgers at the end etc etc (and other clubs you'd switch off sooner than waste 90mins on)

We've been places most fans will never go; seen things they'll never see. If you want to reduce football to a scoreline then just check out the results after.

This season has been an absolute joy watching scintillating football. Do I want the team to win trophies, absolutely. However, while trophies and titles enhance the CV of players and clubs alike, they add nothing to my CV. I don't become a better fan for them having won the trophies .... but .... I get added joy and who doesn't want more of that?

Trophy is a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Nobody can say the final was satisfying.

Getting there was; being there was; seeing the joy in the Kiev streets both before and after was; having another chapter in the adventure was .... the result not so much, which is why I said if you're only focused on the end result, skip the journey and just look for the score after.

Tough league and well the CL is errr tough.

Domestic cups depends on squad depth.

So I'll be happy with being competitive on all fronts...estatic if we win on one.

Ideally I want that gap between us and City down to within a couple of games.

Same as this year, get out of CL group and then see who we draw after. Think our quality of football should improve further if the new/potential signings click quickly.

With bigger better squad and Klopps brand of football I think I'll enjoy next year just as much as this.

No I didn't enjoy the game after Salah went off but .. but .. but we were still in a final when hundreds of teams didn't make it that far.

You're right, the final itself wasn't a satisfying game but I can't separate that from the fact that we were there non-satisfying or not - you still have to get there. The alternative view is - I don't ant to go to final in case it doesn't turn out well. As fans we should be in it for the good, the bad and the ugly.

Anything would be nice. League Cup and FA cup are lower on priority list tbh. Think a top 4 finish is more desirable than a mini domestic cup these days.

    Order of priority:
Premier League (because we haven't won it in forever)
Champions League (bigger tournament, but we've won more recently).
Top 4 (it's only silverware for Wenger... But it keeps us in Europe and as a big team)
    Eŭropa its continental
FaCup/League Cup (always nice to win something)

no. top 4 is a means to Europe to build. a cup is the aim. it says we achieved something.

Wenger was sacked in the end finally as the fans were deluded twats who were sick of the team going nowhere but they were spoiled enough to turn 3 fa cups into a non achievement.

Wenger was getting worse as his team was soft away from.home and flaky.

To me, FA Cup and League Cup are nice but don't really mean that much. Simple knockouts against a random list of teams.

Premier League and Champions League are the big prizes. One means top dog in country. Other means top dog in Europe (and probably world).

FA/League cup only means you managed to win a random selection of games... Top 4 gives you a shot at the big one.

We've been in three cup finals under him and lost all three. These aren't great stats tbh. We do need something next season. I'm still pissed off about our FA Cup exit. We didn't turn up that day.

The difference is that there is no other comparison on the continental stage and CL is much more prestigious. Noone outside the UK who doesn't make a concentrated effort would even know who won the little domestic cups.

They would known league winners and continental results... But Fa and League cups arn't very big any more. Teams don't take them serious. How often do big clubs not even play first team players until the semis in FA and League cup? That tells you how much clubs value them.
