Just a very modest e/w patent for me today.
    All at Uttoxeter.

    340 - Kapstadt
    450 - Oskar Denarius
    525 - Nelson's Touch

There are some disappointing fields at The Curragh today.

Undoubtedly, Cliffs of Moher from the all conquering Ballydoyle has chased off all opposition except for Roger Varian’s Defoe; the grey clearly here to find out whether he is up to rubbing shoulders with the top table. Whilst he slammed Red Verdon in the Jockey Club Stakes, that one was also trounced by Magic Circle at Sandown on Thursday. The presumption is that Lancaster Bomber is here to make sure they go a decent clip if Success Days does not try to make all.

Only four of the thirteen in the Irish 1000 Guineas are from Ballydoyle and given Ryan Moore’s record last season for picking the wrong one, I would probably rather be on Clemmie than favourite (Newmarket third) Happily. It is hard to make a case for Soliloquy to reverse Newmarket running (other than it was only her fourth race); however, of the home team, I do like the chances of Ger Lyon’s Zoffany filly WHO’S STEPH, if she can find the necessary improvement. She won the Guineas Trial and on that form holds Alghabrah and Chiara Luna. Ex-stablemate Lightening Quick surely needs some rain and has the hindrance of Spencer.

Over at Longchamp, the Prix Saint-Alary has cut up to a disappointing five runners but represents a perfect opportunity for Guineas runner-up Laurens to collect another Group 1 as she is perfectly capable of making the running as she did in the Fillies’ Mile. Of the home team, Flowrider or With You would have to be top draw to give her a race. After this, next stop would be the Prix de Diane.

Chester form under examination in the Prix Du Lys with Dee Stakes runner-up My Lord And Master meeting Vase fourth Ispolini. Both were well beaten on the Roodeye but it will give us a French form line. A very disappointing turn out for the Prix d’Ispahan with just six facing the starter and not a Group 1 winner amongst them. I expect Taareef should win for Jean Claude Rouget as he was second in the Moulin last year.

Laurens won the Prix Saint-Alary in a photo from With You. She was 7/10 on the PMU at the off – a lot better than the 8/15 the British bookies were offering.

It is not inconceivable that Freddie Head’s Dansili filly (unbeaten in two juvenile starts) might be a good one rather than the alternative that the three year old fillies (so far) are nothing special. It would be reasonable to expect her to go to the Prix de Diane, where Laurens would find it harder to confirm the verdict.

I thought the Godolphin runner was going to win 5 lengths a furlong out - hit the front going really well then just stopped.
