I tell you what, crew, when DIVINER, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, romped home by 5 lengths last week I expected her next to be contesting a very decent race, maybe even at Listed or Group level, instead though she reappears in a £7,400 novice event at Catterick Bridge (‘card commencer’ – 1.50) this afternoon!

Despite having to carry a penalty for that win, 10 days ago, I would expect Diviner to be far, far, far too good this afternoon – and if I can be frank for a moment, instead of Barney, I expected the old girl to be odds-on so current quotes of 2/1 are a boon indeed. Can see her winning here unless one of the unraced sorts is the ‘reincarnation of Pegasus’ (always a worry when unraced animals appear) or a member of the onced-raced brigade improves enormously. The nnext up I can see Diviner making that step up into Pattern company.

    Good luck, pilgrims.

On terrestrial TV for sure - other than oddities like the Breeders Cup. To be honest ITV4 shows pretty much very old crap telly shows most of the time so I'd have thought that there would be a greater viewing audience for current sport. Let's hope so.

Nice card at Sanders as it happens, albeit a bit of a fav fest.

The 6.35 2yo dash looks a competitive affair - but I really, really, really like Sabre in this. There was no way he was going to win a furlong out on his debut, yet he was switched around horses and found about 3 more gears, to win going away.

I'm taking all the favourites in the other races in doubles and trebles (don't do luckies, accas etc)

    Good luck everybods <ok>

Good luck with Squire. The big question is this.

Has he regressed over the last 2 years?

On 25th September Squire finished 2nd in the Silver Cambridgeshire (9f) btn 1¼l running on under 9.6 (Rob Havlin riding). That was a Class 2 handicap. 2 months before that he ran over today's C&D in a Class 4 handicap (again ridden by Rob Havlin and carrying 9.10) he was 2l behind the winner, conceding 14lb (4lb more then wfa)

Today he runs in a Class 5 handicap carrying 8.11.

The other thing is that, since his last run on turf 11 months ago, he has been running on the AW bringing his OR down from 72 to 65 (his highest OR was 80, 13 months ago). AND, I seem to recall stick saying he is 10lb better on turf (correct me if I am misquoting, stick). On that assumption alone that would place him on a current "turf" OR of 75, again placing him well in on the weights

Based on the above, this makes the 16/1 look ridiculous as he ought to be near fav, if not fav

Hence my crunch question, has he regressed? If not this is "Have it off with Squire day" folks

If that 16/1 collapses I think we could have the answer right there

The jockey booking is interesting. First time up for Ryan Tate. Is he good?

Since composing the above I see Squire has drifted out to 22/1 in places. Could this be an even bigger"Have it off with Squire day" folks

    I've claimed 22s on him.

If the field stays the same size, that's EW odds of 11/2.

I feel he HAS regressed, and stats of 3 wins from 38 runs don't inspire particularly, but I too have taken that 22-1 (boosted to 25-1) ew small stakes :)

You'd have to say that if Squire is well in, then What A Welcome is chucked in, but that's a good ew chance for the forum horse.

I think it’s safe to say that one of the onced-raced brigade did improve enormously. Second Generation romped it by 6 bally lengths!

The weather where I am is beautiful, it's been a couple of weeks since I've seen rain in this little corner of Yorkshire
