Interesting how Arsenal have announced Emery after a couple of days after his interview. Can we borrow their lawyers?
Hojbjerg and Bednarek are the 2 that have improved imo. Also Prowse. But it's certainly true that this is an area we have not done well in. I think this is partially down to the players not having the ability or desire and partially down to the confidence of the squad. In previous seasons I think the momentum in the squad helped player grow, even older players. Now it's having the opposite effect. Looking at the young players who should be able to improve, we have: Redmond, who's been playing in a position he's not suited for Imo. But has been going downhill since the league cup final. Boufal who's attitude has meant he hasn't played. He would rather be in a league that's below him so he can star. Hojbjerg has improved from his initial performances. Stephens has stalled a bit but has obviously improved from his loan perfomances in the lower leagues. He's gaining experience for sure. Prowse has improved in ability but still hasn't made a position his own. Bednarek has improved. Sims and Hesketh have improved imo bit not been given enough first team chances to prove themselves. Think that's it?
Hojbjerg definitely has improved and I really like him. I think he'll be off in a season or two because I think he will really progress and fulfil his potential. He could be a real quality player. Bednarek did well towards the end of the season but it's probably too early to tell whether he's got what it takes long term. Lemina definitely has the quality but hasn't shown it consistently enough. Maybe down to application or manager or squad confidence perhaps. Hoedt I don't think has improved greatly and I still worry with him at the back.
Having had a quick look over on Saintsweb, there is one thing worse than our board running Saints...and that's the fans running Saints.
Arsenal have a manager, West Ham have a manager, Stoke have a manager. We don't have a manager, but this can't be because we are an appallingly badly run club at the moment, can it?
Famous quote about advertising: “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don't know which half.” I would guess the same applies to recruitment in football - managers and players alike
No, I bloody didn't. Got the gist of it on here, but every time I hear that bloke speak, my arsehole gets a headache. I'm sure we're fine though.
I suspect we have a manager and an announcement will be made when he is back from holibobs and a there is a photo opportunity. The reason I believe that is that there are no rumours out there that we are pursuing anyone else and no sign that Hughes is available for any of the vacancies elsewhere. In fact, we are not even considered by most news outlet as having a vacancy.
Arsenal have known for ages that they would be looking for a replacement, and have still made a bit of a mess of things. West Ham are just West Ham; Pellegrini will probably be sacked by December, and Stoke, well... they just got relegated after making a series of botched decisions regarding their managers. So I'm quite happy if we don't seem to be matching any of those club's standards right now. BTW: Who's your avatar?
It all seems a bit odd that he was supposed to be announced early this week, then it was apparently delayed due to lawyers and now Hughes has jetted off on holiday? Conveniently he is due to arrive back from holiday on Saturday, which is the day of the Championship Playoff Final. I suspect he's hopeful of a Fulham victory.
I know what I've been told, and I very much trust the guy and know his credentials. I wouldn't have come back here to post about this if I believed it was bullshit.
Do you know if we have actually spoken to Fulham/Jokanovic about the job? Would be pretty Saints like to wait til Fulham lost the playoffs then **** around for a week "calm in the moment" only for Jokanovic to go somewhere else.
