How does it work? Got a problem with an ingrown nail which is starting to annoy the ****e out of me. I probably need to see a doctor about it if it doesn't get better soon. In Sweden I could just walk into the local medical care centre and they would "stitch me together" for free, but I gotta feeling that this will be way more complicated in the UK?

I gotta register myself somewhere I guess?

I just want to be able to walk :emoticon-0106-cryin

go to your local doctors surgery and they should have some forms for you to fill out, not sure exactly what you'll need, maybe proof of working but they'll know exactly what there. then just book an appointment with the specialist there who's does the ingrowing toe nail ops, otherwise you'll be waiting ages if you just see a nurse.

Yeah, I'll have to see what Stoke has to offer! Really not up for some kind of operation though :/ Last resort

I actually took a look at the Jack Daniels bottle in the kitchen earlier today and thought "Well, that may work"
But it really doesn't feel like the most smart alternative, haha. I'll simply need to drag my lazy ass to some doctor.

I thought I had an ingrowing toe nail, went to the doctors and he injected my toe and hacked away didnt hurt one bit. walked straight out, only it was actually a non cancerous tumour so had to go to hospital for a bigger op. ingrowing toe nail ops arent bad :)

I'd rather do the operation myself then put my life in the hands of the NHS

I had one of them last year, hurts like hell and dead easy to get sorted. I think you need to see a doctor and then get a referral to get it operated on, that's what happened to me anyway. Best off getting it done ASAP because it can take a while to hack through the NHS waiting lists. A walk in centre will be able to tell you where to go to sort it and they'll at least be able to check it out.

That's because you're an idiot who reads the Daily Mail too much. <ok>

The NHS is a great thing and we're lucky to have it.

Generally speaking, the NHS are a good thing. But don't use Hull Royal, it's a dump run by people who are smart enough to pass a medical degree, but apparently not smart enough to enforce basic rules regarding hygiene.

got to agree with mclean for england.

the nhs is a wonderful thing.

here in holland i pay 108 euro per month and thats only for doctor hospital bills.

my pescriptions i have to pay for upto 150 euro.

dentist is an extra 15 euro per month.

my doctor will not see me unless i am on deaths door.

so yes i agree the nhs is a very good thing.

but get your toe or whatever sorted in sweden.the nurses must be well fit!!!

Percy actually has the right answer here. You'll get seen in a walk in centre no problem.

The way it works here is 3 categories - 1) If your a lazy scrounging ****er that's never worked! the NHS is free, 2) If you come to Britain from anywhere in the world and act dumb the NHS is free, 3) If you work hard and are honest you pay for yourself and the other two categories.

Agree, Hull Royal is a dirty **** hole, got sent there from castle hill to have a hickman line fitted....the ward they tried to get me on was more like a building site with blokes stomping about in hard hats and work boots...i told them to shove it and got a taxi back to Castle Hill..I would rather kick the bucket then go in Hull royal....youl be fine with your toe febbos, as others have said just go see the nearest doc to where your living or maybe go to a casualty dept in the nearest hospital....

I may have solved the toe problem!

Got some kind of "Screw this-feeling" and used some serious force with my nail scissor to bend the edge of the nail up after forcing it down into the flesh (That felt about as pleasant as it sounds) :emoticon-0101-sadsm

    But hey, problem solved :emoticon-0150-hands
