The transfer dealings have got progressively worse in my opinion. Not only has the quality gone downhill, recently we've also been ignoring key areas to strengthen.
I wasn't digging you out, I was merely replying to your point about it 'pissing Hughes about' - it's not pissing him about if he knows the situation he's in. I then tagged my thoughts on whether I think Hughes is the right choice afterwards, but maybe I should have done so in a separate comment.
Pellegrini is on over 7 million a year!! Their highest paid manager, but a pay cut on the 16 million/yr he earned in China. Surprised they have released the figure....surely that's private.
Yeah, it's a bit weird. But the season only finished a week ago. I'd like it done by June 1st personally, but after our clusterfuck of a season, I'm not surprised if the board are approaching everything with extra caution. We might need to wait on feedback from the owner of the club too. Maybe he has been too busy to fly to England, who knows? The point I was kind of trying to make, was that we shouldn't look at West Ham as the model of how to get things done.
If i ran a football club I would base my decisions on doing the opposite of what ever the West Ham owners do!
I agree we have had as many hits as misses. We find players all the time. Nobody is a true unknown these days anyway. Lots of teams were looking at Mane when we did. We will continue to find good and bad players. To think we won’t find any really good ones for a long time strikes me as being a little defeatist.
Black box? I'm no computer expert but I reckon i could write a computer programme that analysed the stats for a European league and come up with who to buy
I think more then anything we are willing to take "risks" on these players, where as bigger teams won't. Most people didn't bat an eye lid when a player from the Austrian league joined us...
