You can see why the police, some SAGs and the more delicate football fans are worried about dangerous surges and fightin on the terraces in a return to the bad old days, can't you?
That would defeat the object somewhat. And you wouldn't be able to see if you were sat behind someone stood up. And it would be no use moaning like Babs members. In any case they are locked, people moving in and out of the areas with some down woujd be dangerous. Hardly the Yellow Wall like Dortmund where 25,000 stand up and are served beer with no problems.
I was thinking more at half time, I'm sure if you chose to watch the game in that area you would want to stand up whilst the game was on. P.S. But thanks for answering the question.
They are fixed. They are either used for standing or sitting. One problem would be more fans are in when it is standing so it wouldn't be practical as even when standing you are allocated a space, it isn't a question of standing where you want. The impracticality of doing that is shown by the fact Dortmund holds 25,000 standing and only about 18,000 when seated.
I am sure some of our fans would buy a ticket in a standing area because it was cheaper then demand to be able to sit down.
Some clubs looking at safe standing would not alter the capacity at all, you would actually buy a seat, you'd just stand at it (obviously rail seating can give an opportunity to increase capacity, but only if the ground allows for an increased capacity under safety rules, which the KCOM doesn't).
True. But that is to with egress. Other grounds could possibly increase capacity as is the case in Germany.
Nothing to lean on though. I have trouble standing for a long time but am OK if I can lean on something. Fortunately the bar at my local appears to be the optimum height.
I'd support it if the rail was actually a narrow bar with a beer holder in it (like in some poker tables) and you were allowed to drink while you were stood there
They could have beer running through the rail with a tap on each space. One of the great innovations I would bring in if I ran a football club.
You know,it's a bit irrelevant to the topic, but looking back isn't it completely absurd that we all love and flock to the likes of Peterborough,Brentford etc just so we can stand up to watch a football match
