Just to cheer you up on this bright and sunny morningFML - the answer to our lack of goals - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...olstein-kiel-striker-marvin-ducksch-1-5527739 #cheapaschips
It's a different style of football, but the quality in BuLi 2 isn't far off championship. Signing the league's top scorer isn't really something to sniff at, surely?
Agree with that DH. DF has worked with him before at Dortmund so presumably he sees him fitting our style of play. Scoring 18 goals in 33 matches in the German second tier isn't to be sniffed at either. The alternative is likely to be a a 3rd or 4th tier striker from this country for 5 times the money.
TransferMarkt rates his base value at €1.8m, which would probably mean £3-4m given that he's at a prime age (24) and coming off a very successful season. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marvin-ducksch/profil/spieler/125103 Interesting that he can also play WL or as a second striker, which may account for his 11 assists. Looking better all the time.
It's hard to be excited by any player who you haven't seen or heard of, but this one is definitely interesting. Coming from a comparable level he may well have the quality to succeed, if we get him, we can only hope that he can adjust to the championship and quickly. Bah!
IMO, I'm quite excited at the prospect of Ducksch at least being 'on our radar' and I've seen elsewhere that SW has been busy before the end of the season in identifying targets, so hopefully this rumour may well have some substance in it. #weshallsee
Marcus Maddison was discussed as a possible target (here, rather than actually by the press), here are some comments from Peterborough's owner: “I gave him my verbal assurances that were we to fall short and not gain promotion, I would allow him to leave the club subject to an offer acceptable to the football club and place him on the transfer list,” he said. “Reading have shown an interest in Marcus Maddison, but they haven’t made a bid yet. Marcus has some incredible stats, but we might not get the millions we originally expected for him.” Potentially within our price range?
I like the look of this guy. He looks a far, far better player than Srbeny. His stats are impressive, and is a pretty good all round striker. Tall, decent in the air, very good finisher. He loves to shoot. Which is something only Madders loves in our squad. I'm just desperate for some personnel up front. Whether any Striker can look good in this formation and style of play, is the question. Get him in I say!
I really like that kid, and think he as very similar attributes to Madders. So if we could get him in as a replacement, or if there was any chance to have him and Madders in the squad would be amazing. He's been promised he can move up, so you would think by saying that to the press, the chairman has slightly weakened his hand in negotiations. I still think he will go for a decent amount. 3-4M maybe? Dunno if we have that until we sell Nelson or Madders.
Just seen this - 'Reading are leading the race to sign Peterborough United’s want-away winger Marcus Maddison.' It's buried in this article - https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/wolves-want-record-527m-striker-1595865, so I wouldn't put too much faith in it!!!
Looks like we might miss out on Ducksh - 'Norwich’s top brass have targeted attacking reinforcements, with Holstein Kiel’s on loan forward Marvin Ducksch on the radar but reports in Germany on Tuesday afternoon suggested City will miss out on the Bundesliga Two top scorer who is believed to be attracting serious interest from the German top flight.' But we're rumoured to be interested in - 'Chelsea’s highly-rated midfielder Kasey Palmer' #notanothermidfielder
I'd also love to see Carlton make it next year. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...gue-one-play-off-final-wembley-date-1-5529913 In other news our first offer for Ducksch has been rejected. Hardly surprising, but at least it looks serious.
Other rumours are Kasey Palmer, an attacking midfielder who who was loaned to Derby (from Chelsea) this season, and Cameron John, an 18 year-old Wolves CB.
Dan O'Hagan@danohagan May 22 Marvin Ducksch would be a TERRIFIC signing for #NCFC. Was linked in January briefly, and Farke oversaw his development at BVB II. Now battle-hardened from his time at Kiel. Of significantly higher technical quality than Srbeny.
Direct quote from Marvin Ducksch in the German press, "ich werde auf jeden Fall nicht nach st Pauli zuruckkehren" Translate as, "I will definitely not return to St Pauli." He went on to say his future is still open.
Palmer is a cracking player though, and loves to push forward and crack a shot from distance. Don’t mind it.
I might have to tip my hat to Farke as a coach if we got him, it would be likely the only reason that he would reject supposed interest from the Bundesliga to join us. That is a big if, unfortunately anyone desirable that we can afford is likely to have more financially able suitors. That is the likely out come here. Bah!
