I think L'Ami Serge will get the job done again in the French Champion Hurdle and 3/1 seems a fair price. Rashaan makes his chase debut in the 4.05 at Limerick but 5/2 is very skinny. Watching brief
PEARL NOIR 5.00 Ripon seems a very good bet, ticking most boxes here. Won LTO, has the highest draw, track suits front runners, runs off bottom weight and has 7lb claimer on and has won this race for the last two years. Money for it and currently 3/1 Fav.

The winning streak has got to end, so I may as well stop it at three... The betting on the 3:30 at Ripon suggests that it is a three horse race and recent form would back that up. Richard Fahey’s sole runner at the course, Society Red, won at Beverley last time and has obvious claims. David O’Meara’s Trading Point is on a hat-trick but has nearly a stone more to carry than last time and my main worry is that he may not have an uncontested lead if last year’s winner Gurkha Friend (out of form for a long time since) decides to try for a repeat. That leads me to topweight MUTAMADED. Ruth Carr’s gelding looks like a course specialist – all three career wins at the Garden Racecourse, including last time out –and may well have the race run to suit his hold-up tactics.
