Seems that it will be a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation.

A shame that Shelvey has been overlooked. He could have been usefull.

So does the picture of Kane mean he is Captain?

Shelvey is the only real player I would have taken that is missing I would say...but his temperament is risky.
I would have had him on standby at least.....Lallana although once a certainity cannot get fit enough, fast enough

In other news Washington is out of the Northern Ireland Squad, replaced by Paul Smyth. (not quite sure where to put it)
That must be a kick in the teeth

I'd have thought Henderson would be captain.

Danny Welbeck. Was Frank Spencer busy?

To think of the abundance of great strikers we had in the mid-90s compared to now. We didn’t even qualify then ...

Sterling has improved immeasurably under Pep over the last 12 months. Pep has got him to make the right decisions almost always, whereas previously, making the wrong decision was his biggest problem. He'll never be a natural goal scorer, but he's the kind of player the frightens defenders.
Whether he starts or not will depend on which 3 at the back formation Southgate plays I'd suggest. If he plays 3-4-3 I'd expect something like this:

    ---------------------------------------------Pickford----------------------------------------
    -------------Walker------------------------Stones----------------Maguire-------------
    Trippier--------------------Dier-------------------Henderson--------------------Rose
    ------------Sterling------------------------Kane------------------Rashford-------------

I'd prefer Walker as right wing back and Jones in the back 3. Can't see how Delle could play in this set up, although he could start in place of Sterling or Rashford.

If it's 3-5-2, which I reckon it could well be, I'd expect something like this:

    ---------------------------------------------Pickford-----------------------------------------
    ----------------Walker---------------------Stones---------------Maguire---------------
    Trippier--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rose
    -----------------------------------------------Dier--------------------------------------------
    ----------------------------Henderson-------------------Delle-----------------------------
    ----------------------------------Kane-----------Vardy/Rashford/Sterling-------------

Again I'd prefer Walker at right wing back. Imagine how much better this would look if Lallana and Wilshire were fully fit and replaced Henderson and Dier?
That's our biggest problem imo, the lack of creativity in midfield. Loftus Cheek is hugely talented, but this tournament could be a bit too soon for him. Really pleased Alexendar-Arnold has made the squad too.
What we do have is a lot of pace which could serve us well on the break, along with Kane's finishing. There'll always be plenty of pace on the bench too.

Here's a good guide to the grounds hosting the World Cup ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41586162

Some of them look fantastic. I've been fortunate enough to have visited this one ...

My first choice England keeper would be Ben Foster, narrowly ahead of Butland. Ben Foster have looked like De Gea under Darren Moore at WBA, pulling out one incredible save after another.
To early for Pickford. Forster is terrible, I would struggle to name a poorer keeper in any of the top leagues around Europe.
