Robertson was doing just fine without vvd mate.

The backline has definitely improved a lot and so has karius so he's been a good buy in that respect and it was a big problem area for you. His leadership has been key to this.

Saying that I would never call 75m a bargain, he's the most expensive defender in the world! The other downside is that he has made quite a few big errors that has led to goals.

Still though your team look much better with him in than out so who cares

in the end its a team game and guys need to realise they are one part of a machine.

thats why city have improves so much under pep imo. he has banished the superstar mentality that a lot had there. (without justification)

CIty could utterly dominate IMO... bad for the rest but there ytou go. their spending is utterly unchecked by ffp and they are going to steam roller sides til pep dcdies to **** off to PSG.

True about ‘bargain’ - but if we win the CL, then we could say the fee is justified at least?

any fee is justified as long as you are winning the big ones.

seriously? off the top of my head

the swansea loss - heads it at the defender in the box they score from it
Jesus goal in 2nd leg - clears the ball straight to city and gets bundled over by sterling
Spurs match - fouls lamela for the 2nd pen

pretty sure i saw another error of his in another match but i can't remember it.

it's unfortunate as all defenders make mistakes but those are the ones leading to goals that i've noticed

this is ONLY from the matches i have been watching and i haven't even been watching MOTD recently (obvious reasons, we're **** but i get footballed out where i follow religiously at start of season but then sometimes catch it or not as the season drags on!).

Actually agree ... I've thought him a great addition but there have been two worrying times we've conceded because he just stops when he loses a challenge ....either not aware that he's playing everyone on side but not directly impacting on defending or he knows and can't be arsed taking 2 or 3 quick strides to get back in line.

I can't remember the 2 matches but a goal was conceded from what would have been an offside position if he had shifted his arse.

Ludicrous Bobby.1) The Swansea goal he is jumping with 2 or 3 others and I'm not even sure its a VvD header.
    2) Clears the ball after being fouled by Sterling
    3) Minimal contact with Lamela who has clearly been shot or something

    1. that is a poor header, if that was lovren he'd have got castigated (13 seconds in). He's jumping against his own mate and its down and in the area. It should always be up and out

    2. He gets fouled by sterling after clearing the ball. The actual clearance was pony though

    3. At the time, i thought lamela dived but this angle you can see VVD swipes him (accidentally).

VVD as been a great addition but he's not without his faults (play to the whistle ffs) and he had made mistakes too

yup, which was silly of klopp, but he started off okay and has gotten better and better.

He suits klopp perfectly and he was still fine (started playing november or around then) whereas VVD didnt come in til end of the january transfer window

To be fair, Moreno started the season quite well. Once Robertson got into the team though, it was clear he was doing everything Klopp wanted from him

Our defence has dramatically improved since we (a) sold Couthino and played a proper midfielder in his place and (b) bought VVD.

It will improve further as we add more quality at CB and midfield.

And again when/if we buy a world class keeper

Having settled back 5 has helped as well

esrlier in the season it was matip and Lovren then Klavan and matip then Gomez and Moreno then Robbo and Gomez then Mig and some defenders then Karius and some others. Can’t help any of them having to keep readjusting.

Say what hat you want about Lovren, he’ll have pants moments we all know that but he’s been decent so far back end of this season now he has VVD telling him what to do.

Vvd may have made some silly mistekes, agree wth bobby about the Man City goal but on other hand he’s trying to find a pass and midfiekders just give him nothing, but his pros far outweigh his cons. The composure and organisation, his speed helps us push up higher, anticipation is good and just generally talking, you can see him communicating with those around him telling them where to be etc.
