Just got back in. That game just about summed up our season - too many players who are not PL standard and too many missed goal opportunities. Whilst it was obviously sad to see Angel & Leon in a Swans jersey for the last time, in many respects the saddest part for me was watching the demise of both our wingers Dyer & Routledge. Both in my opinion looked what they are -‘past it’. Anyway, time to rebuild. Whose job will that be? Dai won’t like this but I’m told Laudrup is the preferred candidate - seems that is why Tutumlu is spouting so much of late - I’m also told that the last obstacle was cleared this week when Leon retired.... May be speculation but the source is heavily involved at The Liberty
I must say as well the performances of Angel and Leon today show just highlighted how much our playing standards have fallen
We are no different to the majority of clubs today regardless of what league they are in. Soon the game we love will implode.
It was always going to be such today, that is why it was the only game I did not want to watch this season, so many of our players need moving on, and summed up our dreadful season, by the way what is the current value of the club?????...............
Hay Coedfranc Taffy! Where you getting all this spurious Laudrup rumours from? Leave it out will you Rodney.................. On a serious note, why woul Leon be an obstacle? call me thick and all that.
Well, TV monies (Parachute payment) will be only c£50m next year, and lower the year after. So at present it could be argued that the value has fallen by as much as (or at least?) 50%?
Exactly, if I was the Yanks I would be very worried, and would be looking for a buyer pretty sharpish to rescue my losses, other than that they would have to stump up cash to protect their investment by getting the club back into the PL as soon as possible, the only problem with this, is they know nothing about the game, and sure as hell are not going to trust Jinx anymore..........
Phil - if you check out the Ospreys thread, you will see that I posted about the signings of Scott Williams, Aled Davies & George North, plus the appointment of Allen Clarke ahead of the official announcements. The same source
Michu was asked about taking over - hence the, 'I'd love to come back ... one day.' Managers will not be lining up and on paper Carlos might be the best option.
Not sure if Laudrup would be the best option, though he has good connections for transfers, and maybe relish a second chance in the big leagues again with Huw out of the way, though Martinez would be my preffered choice..............
What has Tutumlu been saying? I loved watching us play under Laudrup - best football ever. But it was all set up for him and he added to the success. Could he build the team he would want from the players we have? Other than the old Swans and Connor Roberts (possibly the Ayews and MVDH) none can pass and move. If we are going for an old boy to stop the rot a better bet would be Sousa.
The transfer window opens on Friday and closes on August 9. Martinez will be at the World Cup so no chance. You need an experiened Championship manager and quickly.
He is suggesting/alleging that AW, GM, LB & MM were instrumental in his departure. Also I believe he is saying/suggesting that ML was the preferred candidate before Carlos was appointed
I have already considered this and so have the Bookies, that's why his assistant Graeme Jones could well cover and do the groundwork at the Liberty until the world cup is over, though still a long shot, there was even a rumour that Carlos was given only until the end of the season, because Martinez had been approached for the job............
