Just the middle bit, between those two dividers at the bottom. Plenty of room for the 3 of us though and 20 steps to the beach.
I usually leave my guests some basics. Bread, milk, eggs, tea bags and a little treat from my hippie range of rabbit food.
She’s got another house on a different island here. Met her the other day and apparently there are 15 shareholders of the island of which she is one, so they basically own the island. And I think she has another house in Vancouver. She also owns a bakery/cafe in town. So she sounds pretty minted. Great character though and an old hippie. She was instrumental in a big logging protest here back in the early 90’s. The local hippies banded together with the native indigenous tribes to fight off the logging company who wanted to cut down all the old cedar trees on a place called meares island about a mile from here. Kind of sums this place up really. Mix of native tribes and old hippies who have made money off the tourists who come to visit.
She’s coming to my place next year. Non simulaneous exchange. I’ve got another place where I live that I can move over to when she comes.
True. But I’m nice so I won’t. It works several different ways. You can either do a mutual exchange, which I’ve done a couple of times before (New York, Los Angeles) or you can do a non simultaneous exchange (this one) Or you can host somebody in your house (you don’t have to be there) and earn a credit to redeem for a house somewhere else in the world. (I.e you stay somewhere and that person earns a credit) I’ve got a few credits built up, and the exchange doesn’t have to be a similar house, length of stay etc. So I had a couple from Denmark come to my place for a long weekend, which I’ll use to try and set up an exchange to Ecuador or Costa Rica for a few weeks next year. It’s a brilliant way to travel and all free.
Could be if you’re that way inclined. It’s all based on mutual trust. I’ve been doing it for around 10 years now and had no problems. Obviously you put really valuable stuff somewhere else, other than that there’s nothing worth nicking in my house anyway lol
Neighbours of ours rent their whole house out for five weeks.(both teachers) every summer. They have to put everything in the garage bar the basics they're supposed to leave like cutlery/plates etc.. The pics off the wall, all their clothes, the lot. Military op over summer. They themselves **** off to France with a trailer tent for the whole time, paid for by whoever is renting theirs. Couldn't be arsed myself.
