#harshbutfair Actually - that's not totally true, as we have umpteen shots on goal, just very few 'on target' a bit like Fulham last night!!!
There has been a lot of Summers over the years where I wanted us to sign him, but is he all that now? Don't really hear about him these days. Few places saying it would be a loan. I bet he's on some serious wages. He only scored 7 goals in all competitions. I think he's a natural goal scorer when played. I don't see how he would fit into Farke's "system" he wont want to/be able to track back or run out to the wings. Farke doesn't like anyone in the opposition box. Which is where Rhodes needs to work.
£40k p/w apparently, would seem unlikely unless Wednesday pay 75% of that, and I expect other teams will be able to cover his wages better. His stock has fallen significantly and I'd be worried the outlay on him wouldn't allow us to sign another decent striker. I don't recall Rhodes being particularly pacy? Which I think is what Webber and Farke have identified as a key trait.
So McClean notches another assist for Considine to give Aberdeen the lead against Celtic. (Got booked in the first half). C'mon you Reds!!!
Ok no necessary provenance in this but a football fanatic in my pub just told me Farke is to be replaced. He is not a Norwich fan and has no axe to grind. Not saying there is necessarily anything in it but he has certainly heard this independently form somewhere!!!!
I would be amazed. It wouldn't be a decision made by the Norwich board. Only possible truth would probably been that the Frankfurt interest was true, and he'd want to return to Germany.
Wages would certainly be a major problem, but consisting he scored fewer goals than Oliveira this season, I'm not at all keen. He's an old-fashioned target man type striker who doesn't work hard up front. Would be a total misfit under DF and at 40 and on high wages would be like going back to the old days. A more realistic rumour concern's Chelsea's Mason Mount, who's had a good year at Vitesse this season. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/norwich-rival-ajax-in-the-race-to-sign-13-goal-midfield-ace/
I would be amazed if it were true, but I actually think/hope the board will have little input in any such decisions and that Farke staying or going will be pretty much soley in Webber's hands. Webber will have set targets for Farke and if he feels they haven't been met then there is a chance this could happen. Webber knows his head is on a block if Farke fails, he will have targets identified for who ever the head coach is this is the beaty of having a DoF (Or it might be if it works!) Bah!
I would also be amazed if it happens. I was a realist before last season started, expecting teething problems with a new young coach and heavily restructured squad. Quality experienced players left and were replaced by younger, less experienced players many of whom had never played in the Championship before. But for Maddison, it could've been far worse. One year on we may well lose Maddison, but we now have an experienced HC and more experienced players ready from the start. Godfrey, Thompson, Morris and Cantwell will bring a new dimension with battle hardened experience as well to provide our first 'ins' for the window before it even starts. The critical signing will be a new striker who can provide the goals lacking this season. If SW succeeds in that, then we can hope for much better next season.
IF the Shrews can 'slay' their Wembley hoodoo, then Morris will be playing in the Championship next season, so why not play for NCFC in that league????
You say that in a simplistic way, but Morris is far from certain to be up to Championship level. His stats in a winning team hardly suggest he is the answer to our scoring problems. I'd keep him to fight it out with Srbeny for the bench spot and hope that we bring someone in who keeps them both out of the team. Morris either has to succeed for us next year or we might as well sell him now. Bah!
Just seen this on Idah - 'The 17-year-old has trained regularly with Farke’s first team squad during recent months after being fast-tracked through the club’s academy set-up. “I’m loving it at Norwich. I have played (for the) U18s throughout the season, and I have played a couple of games for the U23,” he told City’s official site. “At the moment, it has been very successful for me, I won U18s player-of-the-year and academy player-oif-the-year so the season has been very good.' Idah missed his penalty!!!!
