    There's a bar on Galveston island called "Poor Michael's", the owner(Michael obviously)has got the flags of Ireland, Ulster(British version) and the butcher's apron(Union Jack)flying outside of his bar, inside it was a typical Irish themed pub, but this is on an island in Texas.
    I always got on great with him, he asked me to bring over authentic Guinness bar mats etc because they were difficult to get over there, I had a mate in the pub game in Liverpool who gave me loads of Guinness's, Jameson's and Bulmers Irish Cider stuff which I took over, he was amazed when I showed up with it one evening, he told his son to get the bottle of special Jameson's and glasses and me, my mate and him and his wife sat talking ****e about Ireland/politics/booze and got smashed.
    He was/is from a Protestant Ulster background but born in Texas, he was extremely proud to be "Irish" and couldn't see that being one cancels out the other.
    But to everyone of his regular customers he was as Irish as Brian Boru, Tayto Crisps and Guinness rolled into one.
    That's American/Irish for you.
