Hope he had no chance to pollute the gene pool first! When I was living in South Africa, I was at a game park watching a pride of lions about 30 metres away on a giraffe kill and a car pulled up next to me, 2 lads in their twenties got out and stood on the bonnet taking pictures. The ranger with us yelled at them to get the **** back in the car because a lion could cover that distance in a few seconds. When they continued to stand there, he said very loudly “get your cameras out folks, you’ll get a few good YouTube videos of a lion eating a stupid tourist .....” That seemed to have an effect ....... People just amaze me with their stupidity around wild animals.
I try and give them 100 pages which is often almost half-way through the book. If I'm not enthralled, excited or enjoying the book by then I can't see that it'll improve.
Hey guys, thought I best log in for my biannual (triannual?!) Saints not606 appearance. Hope everyone is well! As the convo seems to be on books, i'm currently rereading The Wicker man (kind of fitting with my avatar like this I guess!). Trying to get into Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle and as much as I love a dystopian novel, this one just ain't grabbing me. I haven't yet reached page 100 but i'm thinking of adopting the Saint Helen Method for this one!
So who's going to be watching Eurovision tonight? I haven't watched the whole thing for decades - I usually try and catch the voting - but after hearing some of the songs on the Graham Norton show this morning I'm actually tempted...
The World Cup is coming and of course the Serbian team is sponsored by a beer company. Just downed my first can of Tadic no. 10! sweet!
This old airport’s got me down It’s no earthly use to me ‘Cos I’m stuck here on the ground Cold and drunk as I can be... Shuttle bus dumped us here at 9:15. Boarding gate not announced for another hour!
Just mentioned on Sky Sports that a Sunderland fan with prostate cancer has had a relapse. Extremely sad, but then they went on to talk about knowing that he's not a quitter. I hate all this talk of fighting disease, because it has the connotation that people who die of cancer just didn't fight enough. You can be braver than others, but that has nothing to do with treatment success. It comes down to the type of disease and how your body responds. Someone with a possibly terminal disease does not need the suggestion that it is largely down to how brave they are and the fight they put up.
Just sat looking out he window enjoying a glass of wine after a day of gardening and planting, interrupted only by a great 90 minute display by Saints. I’ve just look up to see a wonderful blue sky. I love this weather. We must be staying up.
I am lucky with the view I have at home, especially this time of year and evening. Stunning sky tonight.
