Fair play to Leeds. Playing in a foreign climate during a tropical storm with majority of youth players against a Country ranked 135th in the World, and they're winning!!!
I only watched 10 minutes but really they did not look good, a few nice touches going forwards that’s all But always nice to win a game
hmmm pleased with that, some of the youngsters looked promising, particularly Hosanah & Shackleton ,bit early yet but their might be hope for next season yet.get Big Mick in & who knows.
I put thestream on thanks to Matt and saw Ryan score his first goal .He looked so composed and Grot where have you been all season scored a fine goal and at the end Jamie Shackleton nearly made in 3
Who was the commentator? Didn't impress me. Mistaking Vieira for Ekuban & Denton for Grot suggests he's never seen Leeds play before. He also rarely named the players, and when he did, there was a lull beforehand, like he was looking up the number on the team sheet to see who it was. Annoying for us punters that didn't know most of the players either, but surely a commentator should be professional enough to get it right? A lot of positives to be taken from the match: * Hosannah looks like he could be some player. I don't for a moment think he could be played at RB for the whole of next season, but he's shown that he can do a job & hopefully will get his chance in pre season +/or League Cup games. Sadly for him we've got 2 excellent RBs in Ayling & Coyle. Also think this signals the end for Berardi. * It appears that we have 4 useful CBs to call on in the near future. Pity Halme was injured, otherwise we could have had a good look at him. I'd still pick Struijk over O'Conner, personally, but what do I know? * Edmondson scored, but it was the cool way he did it that deserves plaudits. * Grot got to play the position we bought him to play in. And scored a belter of a goal coming in from the left. Like he's done in the u23s too. Poor sod has been torn apart this season because he was played as a '1 up' in the first team simply because of his size. And yet he was bought as a left sided striker for the u23s! I hope he recovers from this season. He's still a kid. And a prospect. Some of his wing work was excellent in the short game time he had. * Pearce. Wonderful. Again. He may have signed Denton's death warrant on this tour, if it hadn't already been signed. Possibly De Bock's too. Let's hope if he does make the first team that we don't burn him out. There were a lot of other good performances too. For me, notably Nicell & Shackleton. Not sure that they're ready for the step up yet, though. Another year developing, methinks. And some average performances. Biggest downside for me was Saiz (called 'Samu Science' by the commentator at one point!). PH was spot on when he said that he couldn't improve him as a player, but could improve him as a team player. Today, there were signs that he's still too greedy on the ball. Couple of times he could have laid it off to better effect, but wanted the glory. And failed. I wouldn't be upset if he left. I've also never been convinced by Gomes, and wasn't today. Despite what a lot of people have expressed, I think of this tour has been good for the club, and I'm glad so many of the kids got to bond by travelling abroad & have some game time into the bargain.
