Also don't understand those who are saying that it's out of order having someone else lined up already. The club gets critised for sacking managers previously without having a ready replacement, so they can't really win.

At least getting it done now gives the whole close season to recruit/replace out of contract players and a full pre season too. Smart move in my opinion.

Not sorry to see Ollie go, but a decent bloke and a R through and through, so wish him well.

I fear we still have that "nothing's good enough until we're in the Champions League by this time next week" attitude and are making a mistake here. What should we have been expecting in these last two seasons? I fear we're being unrealistic again.

Although our final position this season is not much higher than last, there are many improvements that can't be shown in the table, especially in the second half of this season. I do feel that we've actually been making steady progress, if a little slowly. I think this season could have been built upon with a couple of additional signings and upon Ollie finally realising that '4 at the back' actually brought us results and good performances.

I fear that McClaren will come in, flap around like a fool because he's got a big name and expectations on his shoulder, and be sacked in the 2nd half of the season.

Also sad that there is absolutely NO goodbye for Ollie from the fans.

Anyway, Clint Hill in as staff member to assist McClaren?

Exactly! Its not like holloway done some miracle and now he`s been kicked out brutally. He done ok job but nothing would suggest, that he would have done any better in the future. As col said its a cut throat business so lets welcome new manager in.

I like Ollie's passion for our club, but I believe that HE has been flapping around like a fool for much of the season and I look forward to getting another coach in who may just keep a settled side and not put square pegs in round holes.

I'm note sure whether Holloway's departure at this time is good for club or not. Possibly it is, but the touted replacements hardly get the pulse racing. I fear for him personally, though.

Truly shocked. Holloway very badly treated in my view. Just when we were building up the right culture.

Interesting reading, opinion divided as usual.

Thanks Ian Holloway for taking on a difficult job at a difficult time, and I wish you every success in your next venture - whatever it is - you deserve it.
Right time/Wrong time? It’s all rather pedantry and emotional response (as you would expect of loyal supporters of our club).
We need to move on from Ian Holloway and his approach and methods. Whether it’s a step forwards (hopefully) or a step sideways, things had to change. Another year of sideways with Holloway would have been disastrous in my opinion.
We need to see more development of our youth; more investment (time/money) in our youth programme. That would (hopefully) have come despite Holloway. I’m not fully convinced that Holloway was all for our youth being brought in - maybe that’s why there were so many changes; so many ‘pros’ put on the bench - who knows. But we have made a statement and we need to follow it through.
Onward to our next manager, who I can’t see being worse than Holloway.

Anyway. Ian ... you will always be an ‘R’ and always ‘one of us’. Enjoy what life has to offer you now, chill and relax, let us do the worrying now. Thanks.

Every sliver lining has a cloud....

Not sure about this....think holloway has been poorly treated....done what he was asked to do....keep side up, slash wage bill, Give youngsters a pathway and 1st team opportunities......and still gets fired.....
Was underwhelmed when he was appointed but not sure what else he could do. .......Hope I'm proved wrong but this is a real gamble as I can't see the objective for next season is little changed from this season.....

I personally don't think ian did a good job. His facination with 5 at the back and it predominantly was 5 as we were often on the back foot, was in my opinion where he showed his tactical (lack of) nouse. Might be a great guy, a true R etc etc but I couldn't see him progressing from a low position in the table. Might sound harsh to some but I truly believe he could have done a lot better with less tinkering. I also believe to this day that he doesnt/didn't know his best 11 or if he did, he certainly didn't know how to play them.
    No great loss

in my opinion holloway did a brilliant job and would have sold luongo for 6 million and smithies for 4 million bob mid actual has a picture of ferdinand on his avatar, the same ferdinand who paid three million for washington probabley the worst striker we have had since steve slade, next season bob mid you will see how useless maclaren is but im quite capable of being wrong, and if im wrong im going to buy bob mid a cool pint of lager

Also read elsewhere that Ollie may have been told to ditch playing 3 at the back and play 4, rather than being his decision.

Could certainly believe this, given how he persevered with it for so long when it obviously wasn't working. Would also be a factor in losing his job.

Tramore, l stated back when McClaren was appointed coach / advisor to Harry, that he should build to succeed old Dicky Knees and was peeve when he went to Derby.

He had a ready made managers job here but thought otherwise.

Now, after he’s Been stuffing around at other clubs, l don’t have the same enthusiasm for him but l will endeavour to roll back my thinking to some past better times and throw whatever positive engeries l have, into supporting him when he’s appointed.

I just hope that management do likewise.

QPR can still sell Luongo and smithies regardless, it certainly won't improve us Ted. Unfortunately Ian has been the architect of his own downfall. Last game of the season (granted nothing to play for) we play 2 full backs at centre back and 2 midfielders at full back. That alone totally sums him up. Do we not have a single young centre back to give an opportunity to? The paying fan deserves more than that! I'm sure the players and hierarchy were bemused by this but maybe he knew the writing was on the wall prior.
I also believe he was totally the wrong man to progress our talented youngsters at first team level. They seem to be getting some good coaching at junior level, progress to Ian's team and find themselves playing a direct ball game with little to no passing of the ball. Let's be honest here, his only tactic was a long ball to Smith and feed of the pieces.

I have the impression that most of us have mixed feeling and it it is easy to see both sides of the arguement.

It is worth to read this "best" and "worse" article from LFW which succintly states the facts for both sides of the arguement.

    https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/48073/holloway’s-best-and-worst-–-column

The morning after, my "heart" really feels for Ollie, however my "head" understands the "need to progress".

I just hope that next season we do have "progress".

    I know, I'm quoting myself...

It's not about Holloway. Yes, he was a QPR bloke for me, in a way that Sir Les is not - and I liked that, although I have no sensible reason to feel that way. But Ollie wasn't a good coach and his vision of how the team should set up their stall was often worrying.

I'm not impressed because we replaced Hasselbaink yet didn't get in someone who could stay for 5 plus years and give that aspect of the club some longer term stability. The club has yet to show that there is a long term plan and the ability to execute it. I don't see it being any different this time, but I'm hoping to be wrong.

    Bloody football.
