what's the general consensus. Happy? Will he lead us to the promised land, Holland?

I just hope whoever takes over, Ainsworth, McLaren, Joey (god forbid) keeps the youngsters in the mix and doesn't lose the QPR ''family feel'' ie us.

Thanks for everything Ollie, you were a very perfect fit for a very imperfect club. I think that sums you and us up, quite nicely.

Of course they'll have the ink dried on the replacement's contract and will leave it the mandatory, respectful 20 mins before confirming that McLaren is indeed the man.

The class just oozes out of this. Our commitment to stability is there for all to see.

Get the impression I feel like Clive on this. For all Holloway faults, I really doubt that either McClaren will prove to be a better Manager than Holloway, or that we will find anyone else who is better. Holloway is QPR and that counts s lot. As the NUFC blog says McClaren hasnt succeeded anywhere for years. Why do our Board seem to think he will with us? Hope I'm wrong.

We're a club with wealthy owners but barely a penny to spend, and FFP hanging over us like a noose. It will take a highly talented manager to take us into the top six. Holloway was pretty good, during his 2 periods as our manager, of living with a shoestring budget. Brolleyman won't do any better imo

I also would like to wish our Ian all the best for the future:emoticon-0148-yes:

I know it's been frustrating for all the long suffering R's, but no one can dispute he really does care for our club. For that I thank him very much.

Let's hope whoever takes his place can up our game with what little resources we currently have.

    Onto the next chapter.

Look on the bright side, at least we have something new to moan about on this forum...<laugh>

I'm certainly not his greatest fan and will never understand his tactics but after a season of well-and-truly delivering on the commitment to provide a focus on youth and keeping the ship stable with zero to spend this looks to be very shoddy treatment of Holloway to me. Had this been a mutual decision it would have been different but the man very clearly wanted to stay and the club statement makes no reference to the reasons why he was rejected having thrown his hat into the ring again. I'm praying that there is stuff we don't know but unless we have somehow managed to bypass the FFP stuff and have new investment to make use of I really can't see the point in a change at this stage. Come on Tony and co, this is a fellow QPR fan you're treating in this way and we deserve to know more.

When announced he was coming back, I didn't want Olly.

When announced he was going (again) I didn't want him to go.

I don't want McLaren, Pardew, McCarthy or any of the other largely ineffectual, has-been usual suspects.

I think I just would like a bit of stability, which might amount to a slow progression and just say an extra 12-15 points (4-5 wins) a season.

At that rate, in a few years, we would be ready for another shot at the PL.

There are probably factors to Olly's departure that we won't know until the inevitable book release.

I've enjoyed a lot of games at LR this year, far more so than ever under Kneecap, Ramsey, JFH. I hope we can be entertained by whoever we get.

I don't know. Hollow was a nice bloke and told a good joke but he would never have taken us up. His tactics and team selections were bizarre at best and his away record was very poor.
I think TF wants us to challenge and knows we will never do it under Hollow.

Furthermore, I think from TF's recent comments that FFP will not be a problem. He will also get the training ground done. We have a good young crop of talented players and maybe money to spend..would you trust Hollow with the job?

Holloway was a temporary appointment until the board brought in a decent manager. It may upset people but we need to move forward. Thanks Ian but now we need to move forward.

I don't agree with some who are saying we have treated Ian poorly.
This is a cut throat business and those in charge clearly don't think Ian is capable of taking us any higher. I happen to agree.
He's done a good job at a difficult time, but now we move on.
    All the best Ollie.

I don’t really understand why some think Holloway has been treated badly. He will have been given targets/metrics at the beginning of the season, accepted them, and he and Les will know how he did against them. Football manager is one of the least secure jobs in the world, he walks away with the rest of his contract paid up, which is more than 99% of people who get made redundant get.

So what if he wanted to stay and have a longer contract? I would like a pay rise, a promotion and a generous early retirement package, but I’m not going to get them, and I’ve put 17 years in.

Stability? We have stability regardless of manager - we are a club with a salary cap, which buys cheap, sells wherever possible at slightly less cheap, and tries to turns kids into professionals. Part of the ‘philosophy’ is a style of football which presumably we can see in the teams that Ramsey oversees, but which seems to collapse, along with ‘stability’ of team selection, when it gets to the first team.

It seems to me that the prime reason for discomfort about this is sentimentality - Holloway is a nice bloke and an R. Which is fair enough, sentimentality is the only reason I spend any time on QPR. But I’m pretty sure that if we had kept JFH and he delivered exactly the same results (26 wins out of 80 games, 10 clean sheets) everyone would have been baying for his blood. Holloway’s highly emotional sentimentality is a weakness in this job.

Judging by what C Whittingham has written, Holloway is an unhappy man, not his old eccentric self, given to rambling and incoherent outbursts. Perhaps the club is doing him a favour.

Just noticed that Col has said this much more clearly.

Agree & liked Holloway as a person but football & changes was getting me down at times, season ticket holder & couldn’t be bothered a couple of times as wasn’t enjoying it, not happy at way he was sent packing but that’s life & we move on to better times hopefully with whoever takes charge.

TBH I couldn't stand the way we played under Holloway and stopped going. My season ticket wasn't being used. in the end I stopped going completely. I will renew again now.
If We do get Steeve he will probably bring in that striker from Coldplay.

Thanks for all you have done, Ollie. A true R!
Absolutely the right time to get in someone who can get us up. Hopefully, the FFP thingy has been sorted, so that we can get in a 20 goal striker and the youngsters continue to improve.
Stevie would be my choice (although the heart wants Wild Thing).
Always the same though, we never really know what's going on.
    When does next season start?

Thanks for everything Ollie, both this tenure and your previous stint. Not quite sure I'm happy with the way the club have gone about this, but the timing is probably the best for the incumbant to get the squad ready for next season, whether it be McLaren or someone else. Whoever it is, hopefully there will be some coherent tactics and team selections - the team will still get my full support. U Rrrrrsssss
