On Talksport tonight: "Phil Brown has been sacked as manager of League 2 side Southend United. All was looking bright and jolly until the dreaded Manager of the Month was awarded to Mr Brown. We understand that Mr Brown lept into his car and headed straight down that London for a live appearance on Match of the Day 4.. Suddenly the previously understated Phil had changed his attire into a bright orange jumper and had acquired a Mediterranian gloss overnight. Beaming and cracking jokes, he ripped the proverbial piss out of Arsenal FC, stating "They don't like a bit of rough and tumble, once my boys have been promoted 3 times in 3 seasons, we'll show that Mr Wenger and his bunch of nancy boys who's boss!".. asked if he was serious, he replied "I've told them Southend is a premier league club, always has been, always will be, it's all in the mentality, if the Chairman is prepared to splash the cash on Alvaro Negrdo and Daryl Murphy, we're in business" The Chairman was not amused, seemingly..
That’s an odd update. Bizarrely I was checking in their progress under him just yesterday. Im sure when he took over they were in / on the cusp of the play-offs and they finished nowhere near. Think he only won 2. I looked on messageboards but there was no real opinion of him.
Maybe because it's universally accepted that he is the best manager in England, there's no need for discussion.
W/2 D/5 L/3 finished 9th, 7 points off the play-offs (they were 9th when he took over, but only out of the play-off places on goal difference). As you say, it's really odd to issue a statement that says absolutely nothing.
