Goodbye Dave. Best of luck to wherever you play next year. You always gave it your best shot and that’s all the fans want. That’s why you will always be respected here.

The amount of times I’ve heard that yet the vociferous opinions about Alex and Meyler suggest quite the opposite.

Or that might just be Charon.

Some fans just can't see what someone like David Meyler bring to a team, just as many couldn't with Ian Ashbee. Top man Dave, thanks for your 100% effort for Hull City AFC.

Luer is 23 years old, he was sent out on loan 4 times during his spell here and he didn't score a single goal in the lower leagues.

Why on earth does he feel he's been hard done by?

Very sad to see Meyler leaving become a fact, even though it's been strongly rumoured for ages. The fact that he was included in the last few games of the season gave me hope that someone at the club had seen sense, but it appears that sense is in very short supply at City at the moment.

At times Meyler was the heart and soul of the team, and yes at other times he didn't appear at it, but these poorer performances were mainly and, for me, tellingly after the stabilising influence of Steve Bruce had departed the club. Surely he'll deservedly end up at Villa and enjoy more successes with his mentor.

Anyway, whatever comes next for you, I wish you the very best of luck in the future Dave.

If he does is he in danger of becoming a new Junior Lewis, or indeed Junior Bruce? Has any other manager signed him?

Possibly, but that's not a bad thing, Alex rarely let either us or his dad down, and I know that you never said that he did. ;)

As he's only signed for Sunderland and us, no.

Except Wembley, but hey it didn't really matter. Not like we were two up with half time looming.

It’s also not like he was the best player on the pitch.

Of course he was. That is why Wenger immediately signed him instead of leaving to go bench warming somewhere in the nether regions.

Thanks Dave. I loved your commitment, work rate, the way you won free kicks, your goals and sense of humour. Top bloke. Good luck and best wishes.

Its not often experienced, highly successful managers of huge internationally renowned clubs sign a player based on one performance.

every player leaving has said the same thing, thanks to the fans, back room staff and players - and that's it, not a single mention of the owners at all. And rightly bloody so

I think that there are two ways of reading this, the one you have -I'm glad to be away or it could also be read as - I have no regrets/I'm not upset by being let go
