I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not really arsed about spending big money. All I want is a team that we can enjoy watching and be proud of, and will for success without the bittersweet pill that every bit of success makes Allams pockets that little bit heavier, rather than hoping we get relegated to give them a financial burden and the hope that they will finally **** the **** off.
Agreed. Some of my most enjoyable times as a City fan were during bad times, in the company of fellow fans to whom success and tbe PL were not the only yardsticks. Just a shaje that AP couldn't take us to the PL with the feel good factor there was during his time.
**** Daily Mail web site. Cannot be arsed to jump through the hoops to read it. Especially as it isn't news anyway.
Don't have any problems with HDM site. Apart from the standard of the content when I access it of course.
Even with an adblocker the HDM site a complete ****show. Will always try to avoid it as much as humanly possible.
There seems to be a new thing, which only happened to me for the first time this morning. After viewing a certain amount of articles, it makes you watch a video advert before you can read the next article. Really bloody annoying.
Precisely. Look where ‘big money’ got Stoke? None of their recent teen-million signings contributed a thing. And then look at Meewaw and PNE.
I managed to read the HDM article without having to watch a video, although my unusual operating system probably confused it.
Don't think I read enough articles to get to that point. Not bothered with any pop ups since installing AdBlocker. Still can't post any comments. Like a lot of others I am told my post is awaiting moderation but nothing ever appears. Maybe a lot of us have upset them in the past.
Well I ran my own unscientific poll on Twitter over the bank holiday weekend, and the results were as follows from 264 votes. Gives a general feel of how people would vote if the club swallowed their pride and offered HCST pricing model.
The Whelan family have agreed a deal in principle to sell their majority stake in Wigan Athletic to a Hong Kong-based consortium, pending EFL approval. The International Entertainment Corporation (IEC) are interested in a takeover of the club promoted as champions from League One.
Completely agree with you. Those out of contract and on loan cost us around 250k a week. Admittedly some cracking players amongst them however we still ended up in 18th position. I would like to see Grosicki go and funds from him plus a few quick been given to Adkins to build with. Some good scouting and we can pick up a couple of CB, a RB and LW for that money from Div 1/Scotland. Support them with a couple of experienced free agents and we have the core of a good side. Add some class with a three at aking loan signings and we are nearly there, all whilst reducing the wage bill. I would be happy watching a committed, competitive top 12 team built on a budget then what we had this season
The only problem with the HCST document/suggestion is that it is well thought out and obviously researched. We know the owners don' like that approach!! Cracking bit of work by the trust and a simple easy solution. Add to the figures that more merchandise is bought for children, and increase in children attending by refused rates the 5K diffence is quickly recovered
I'm not sure you can call Stoke a 'big money' club, they've averaged a £21.5m a season net spend for the last three season, it's pretty low in the grand scheme of things (only £13m spent this season).
I didn’t call them a ‘big money club’. I said 3 recent ‘big money’ signings of £18.3m, £18m and £12m had done eff all.
