Just listened to Bruce's interview after today's game, where he said that we would have won,if Bent had still been playing for us!Well, why the hell did he sell him??Sunderland AFC are suffering because Bruce couldn't keep his daughter away from our ex-striker,if reports are right.Brucie, take charge, get a grip, and sign a top-class striker, pronto!!Oh,and by the way,it may help if he's not good-looking!!
The questions not why the hell did he sell him because we know he wanted to go the question is who is he going to replace him with
Running out of time to sign a quality striker, dont want a Riedy type panic buy, ie, Torre Andre FLOP
No, the question is why are we still having this conversation with only 4 days to go in the transfer window? This is now a full 8 months to source a replacement not 4 days. A suitable replacement or even a compromised one as DB's dont grow on trees, would be acceptable but to try and tell us a very good wide midfield player has suddenly become the new Kevin Phillips all along is just insulting to the fans. If both Liverpool (in the first half anyway) and Swansea had THEIR shooting boots on as well Mr Bruce, you would be really in the ****e today and the club would be a bit like you. Totally pointless.
And there lies the problem...Natural goal scorers such as Bent are as rare as hens teeth, and to get one in is easier said than done..
I've been saying over and over we've had since January to scour the globe for a top class forward. Yes people who score 20+ goals are rare but as it stands I don't think we have anyone currently who'll get double figures this year so a 10-15 goal a season man would still be a massive improvement on what we have. Ideally Papis Demba Cisse is top of my wishlist, I think wed have to equal or beat our transfer record to make it happen but that's no more than we were promised by Quinn when Bent left
To be fair, it wouldn't matter who played up front for us if we play with that midfield four we had yesterday. We could have the two best strikers in the world, but they would be completely neutralised playing ahead of that sickening midfield. I still can't get over how appaling that midfield was. ****ing hell.
I would ideally have preferred to keep Bent but if a player wants out then he has to go. If he wanted to stay then that's a different matter. Did I hear us linked with some bloke in the french league, Moussa Sow, a while ago? Dunno if he would consider coming here but from what I've heard he sounds class!!
If Gyan had his shooting boots or thinking cap on yesterday we could have had 3 goals. Gardner was also unlucky with a header from an inch perfect oshea cross. I think we are creating we just can't convert them atm.
When bent said he wanted out, he should've been told that he's not going to leave until the summer when we can find a replacement. If he sulked no one would want him and he'd be stuck.
