A fair point Royston. I am not happy about it, but in practical terms the inconvenience was a minor one for me. My attitude would probably be different if I had encountered more serious issues. It is a bit of a nuisance having to read the instructions and follow them exactly - I think the problem I did have was due to me creating my account in a slightly different way from the steps given on the Club's information post. Also I do sympathise with any Charlton fans who have had problems more serious than the one I encountered. Not being able to buy the ticket(s) you want is immensely frustrating. Having to wait until Tuesday and buying them in a different way (and hoping somebody else hasn't nabbed the seats you want) is not satisfactory. If I was an expert on the way these websites work I would offer to help other fans on an individual basis, but I'm afraid my knowledge is too limited.
When Robinson said that anyone who didn't believe we could get in the play-offs should go home, the office staff took him at his word. And they haven't been back. Simples.
What is surprising is that it seems that Shrewsbury CAN organise a p1ss up in a brewery themselves??? Yet we have to have Ticketmaster arrange a dogs dinner in a brewery? https://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2018/may/playoff-semi-final-home-tickets-details/
It seems from comments from Charlton fans on Twitter this morning that the Valley “ticket office” is open...but only to sell season tickets You literally couldn’t make it up. Can anyone think of another business that won’t sell HOME match tickets to its “customers” like this.
They are on sale from 9am on Thursday. As @baraettmattesvensson said yesterday, anyone leaving it to an hour before kick off on Thursday night is likely to miss the first half. Perhaps “Richard” will note all the negative feedback, and intervene ? He is the voice of Charlton fans after all ..
I've got mine Billy & set up for tomorrow morning when I should be able to purchase. seems a joke though that can' get them sure t from the club.
It is being reported now that large numbers of fans have gone to the Valley today, including pensioners, to try to buy tickets for the Thursday game. Apparently ticket office staff have been trying to help them by buying their tickets online for them while they wait, but if lots of fans of all ages are queueing in this hot weather, that solution is not going to work very well. If this is happening it is very regrettable. The Club should be trying its best to look after its elderly fans the most - those who may not be able to use the internet to buy and print their tickets - supporters who have probably been loyal season ticket holders for decades. These fans need the most help now, and it sounds as if they are being let down. Perhaps it would have been a wise move for the Club to state that all older season ticket holders could get into the Thursday match for free if they scanned their season tickets at the turnstiles. I don't know how technically difficult it would be to arrange that, but it would have been a great gesture to those loyal elderly fans and would have gone a long way to helping many of them out. However I guess it is too late for ideas like that now.
As if they care. Feel sympathy for the Ticket Office Staff down there. Probably not being paid fortunes, working bank holiday, employed by a scumbag.
Shrewsbury Town FC have 3,066 tickets available for the Valley game on Thursday which they are selling directly to their fans from 10am today, with no prioritising because of the short notice. Ironically, Charlton fans can buy tickets for the Sunday away leg from 9am tomorrow at our ticket office at the Valley, but cannot buy tickets for Thursday's home leg until the morning of the game itself. Shrewsbury do have the advantage that their home leg game is still 6 days away. That does give their ticket office extra time to organise direct sale of home tickets to their own fans. And of course they have known they would finish in 3rd place for a couple of weeks now so the only remaining question for them was who they would be playing, not when the fixtures would take place. Our Club was 99% sure we would be in the play-offs since the defeat of Plymouth by Scunthorpe on Tuesday 1st May, but they did not know the dates and venues for our play-off games until the evening of Saturday 5th May.
I have looked at both the Rotherham and Shrewsbury sites, not surprisingly they are not using Ticketmaster but selling the tickets by going to the ground. Charlton selling tickets this way is totally unnecessary and has caused countless problems. All they had to do was start selling tickets today, problem solved.
