Not sure if true or not but... Everton Set To Sell Beckford Everton are ready to sell striker Jermaine Beckford to Southampton for £3 million, according to the Sunday People. The 27-year-old was the subject of a bid from the Saintsâ Championship rivals Leicester City earlier this month, also said to be £3 million though that sum would only have been payable in full once a certain number of criteria were met. link - http://www.footballgossip.org.uk/in...n-transfer-news-and-rumours-sunday-28-august/ Your thoughts? i think he would be a good signing personally and Adkins knows him through his S****thorpe days...

No thanks, has a poor attitude alot like Puncheon if things don't go his way. He will have taste of premiership so will want premiership wages. Better strikers out there.
No i dont think you can question his ability...on the pitch BRILLIANT off the pitch... that could be the only issue plus he would have to fit into the wage structure
if you put a bid in and it gets accepted so will sven and then its up to him. we've done recent business with everton taking yak on loan to get rid of his 40,000 PW wages off there bill. i think he'll sign for us or u on wednesday
I think it depends on his attitude. In terms of his style of play, he is exactly what we need from what I saw yesterday. I think at times we could've done with a bit of pace up front. As I've said before, Adkins has worked with him before so I think he would know how to sort him out.
We're going to need a trailer for the bus if we get all the players we're linked with. The only good thing I'm getting from all this is that Saints are now regarded as a player in the transfer field. If any quality but expensive player appears to be on the market, the lazy journos just say Southampton, West Ham and Leicester are after him. Doesn't even need rewriting just change the player's name.
Seems to be like Marmite - from what I've seen, don't want him. Comes across as a bit of a disruptive influence but at least Atkins will know what he's getting. Could be just paper talk, will soon see
Beckford does have talent in abundance, but am I the only one who would worry about his age? If you look at our forwards at the moment - they're useful yes, but not youthful. In a few years time whether we're in the Premiership or not we're going to need a whole new strike force. Connolly - 34 years 2 months Guly - 29 years 9 months Lambert - 29 years 6 months Barnard - 27 years 1 month The other strikers we've been linked with have all fitted the 'young and hungry' criteria, and if we're going to be spending £3m+ on a player I think they need to have the potential to play for us for the next 4 years or so. Waghorn is 21, Rodriguez is 22, (Baldock is 22), Maynard is 24 and yet Beckford will be 28 in December... I just think it'd be a waste of money considering we're going to need to invest in at least one more striker in a few years anyway.
Put a £3M bid and 25K a week wages for Beckford on Tuesday, sit back and let Leicester bid £3.5M and 30K wages, and spunk the rest of their transfer kitty on him, then stick a bid of £4M in for Maynard, and tell Bristol to take it or leave it,otherwise we will buy him for £1M in January.

are you saying 29 is too old ? if you look at connollys age then at 29 thats 5 years good service,,am amazed that people should disregard someone because there 29 i wonder what the average age of strikers in the premiership is ? you lot would soon moan if he bought a promising youngster but then didnt produce for a season or to,,
