Congratulations on the play off place and well deserved in my book. You won't feckin win it though so same time next year then................ Seriously you have done well to turn it around and if they don't give Bowyer the job permanently then they are stupid. Good luck for the rest of your season.
Well done lads. I had a chat with the players before the game and they delivered handsomely! However, post match i spoke to the lads and reminded them they was supposed to let 5 goals in...they told me they thought they had, with 5 own goals, but then realised they were kicking the right way for a change.
The Rochdale fans were amongst the friendliest away fans I have ever encountered- plenty of banter but respect shown by both sets of fans towards each other at full time. Good luck to the Dale next season. Yesterday reinforced that we are going to need 6/7 really key players on their games to get through the Play Offs. The core of Amos, da Silva, Pearce, Bauer and Kashi all need to play well. We do look very short of goals and creativity without Fosu. Zyro and KaiKai are absolute frauds.
I watched this on Sky (with an Oldham fan) and while I accept we have bigger things on our plate than beating Rochdale, I didn't see any particular lack of effort on our part - just a huge lack of quality and the tatical nous to unlock an opposition defence. Thursday should have no resonase from the Rochdale match, but I hope we can move Zyro and Kaikai as far away from the pitch as posible. There was a momento when we were breaking forward and Marshall somehow failed to note a great run by (I think Konsa) and didn't feed hm. Those little moments when you need to be alert. I hope he is saving his best through balls for the play offs.
I do recall thinking about halfway through the second half that if Shrewsbury had people watching our performance (either live or on TV) they would not exactly be shaking in their boots. The players on the pitch were consciously trying hard, but on a more underlying level there was no pressing motivation for them to try harder or for Lee Bowyer to re-think and change tactics without risking resources he had decided were better held in reserve for the play-offs. Had Charlton needed to get more from that game than we ended up with, I think there would have been much more urgency and some different tactical decisions made. Can't say of course whether that would have worked, but fortunately our victory against Blackburn Rovers meant it was not necessary to find out.
Saturday showed again how hugely reliant we are on Fosu. I don’t think we will make it without him back in the team. Our midfielders are much of a muchness and Kashi plays a holding role. You cannot go into important games with physical cowards like Zyro and KaiKai.
Great weekend ruined by a **** game of football and the M62 being closed. One poster from here didn't get into the ground until half time. Even got to meet and shake hands with 'Spanish Dale'
Was that @DonCorleone ? Might explain why we have waited 2 days for his match report - he is stuck on the Pennines #lazybugger
