You’re in a very combative mood Ninesy. I like it, keep it up.

In the sport bit of today’s Times there are a series of hagiographies of Warnock from former players including Shaun Derry. Apparently he both a saint and a genius, and I have been wrong about him all along, which wouldn’t be the first time I’ve failed to see the error of my ways. Sadly I am also a stubborn **** and prefer to continue thinking of him as an odious creep who is very good at getting teams promoted.

Ah, the days when Neil and Sharon invited Adel for tea (after Neil had flown out to North Africa with the invitation). Good days. Where did it all go wrong?

TF fired him. Big mistake as he now admits. We'd gone on the sort of bad run we've had a number of times on Ollie's watch which did not result in said Ollie getting the chop. Yet.

I think I posted at the time that NW didn't fit the TF/Mittal image. They wanted a Prem name. I also remember we beat Everton away and weren't doing too badly. Things started going wrong for us after that. Big players/money...delusions of grandeur and we came down with a bump....ouch!

Yes, and perhaps NW would admit bringing in named players over the head of the team that got promoted caused big problems in the dressing room. But then, NW was handed huge bundles of cash by the new owner with instructions to spend it with only a few days before the Premier season started. That's the chain of causation that leads where we are today

I don't know about any Big problems in the dressing room, or not. But the football business is entertainment industry. Anyone with an eighth of s brain will know reward is performance based.

I remember resentment from the likes of Taarabt and Mackie. Mackie spoke out about it. Lazy mercenary players, past their best, replacing original team players on the team sheet.

Which brings us back to NW failing in the premiership. And he has. Not a saint or a genius, Championship specialist.

We are entitled to our own view but l liked Warnock ............. history will show he was a good fit for our club.

He was a good fit until we established ourselves in the Prem. Only problem was we thought we could run before we could walk. We went from a newly promoted club to a club that thought we should be top six.
Seriously, we blew such a good chance. Muppets

If memory serves the Everton game was only our second game that season and we battled out a 1 nil win (Tommy Smith scored I think). Actually didn't we start the season well? Aside from the first game. But we were in 17th and playing badly when Warnock got the chop. Of course we ended in 17th anyway.

I think most of the "past their best" came or became that under Hughes and Redknapp. One thing Barton wasn't was "lazy" - on the pitch at any rate.

Barton was an exception. I was thinking SWP and Hulse.

SWP and Young both played very well under Colin. Have to pass on Hulse.

Luke Young did, all I remember about SWP was him running down blind alleys and his goal (an oasis in the desert) away at Chelsea. I'm quite prepared to accept my memory is deceiving me, but I don't recall ever thinking - SWP - thank God we have him in our squad!

He wasn't lazy but wasn't all that good either, poisonous in the dressing room and if Warnock is right, responsible for spreading the poison about him. Not to mention the needless sendings off and the fact that he could have relegated us by his stupidity at the Etihad

Interesting. I remember him being put clean through on a couple of occasions by Taarabt including the win at HQ against Chelsea and absolutely knowing that he would **** it up somehow. Being beaten for pace by a giant of a defender at Huddersfield in the Championship and ludicrously being selected in front of players who could create something because he ran back and doubled up as a defender. What on earth happened to our little dynamo after his contract ran out?

As we have played 6 games in the play offs in our history, won 0 drawn 2 and lost 4, we don’t do play offs, paying the price for not holding out to poxy brentford
