Qatar racing manager had £100 eway on Raid with a bookie at a preview event. He expects a big run and could be a live one. Good luck.
Although I backed the wrong O Brown horse I am delighted that Saxon Warrior won. He will probably be the shortest priced Derby favourite for years! Then who knows - can the Triple Crown be won ? I was at Doncaster for the last attempt six years ago and will make every effort to be there again this year if it is on. An exciting summer ahead!
From a financial point of view I'm sorry I didn't back SW today but I genuinely believe that he is a 10-12f horse and have backed him antepost for the Derby and Arc. For this reason alone, I don't want them to go for the triple crown, but Derby then Arc with an intermediary outing July or August. I know horses HAVE taken in the St Leger then gone on to run in the Arc, but I think the 14f of the Doncaster classic will take too much out of him, with unsufficient recovery time.
Flattering shouldn't be 50/1 for the Oaks. I know it wasn't a great maiden but she was still green and absolutely destroyed them.
Muddy track at Churchill, bad luck for Mendelssohn, Justify will end up very short now over there. My Boy Jack e/w looks good.
Followed Master Of Irony over the proverbial cliff over jumps this season....did I back him on the flat today?
Just you enjoy your retreat to Espana! Leave the cliff jumping to Celtic fans after Scotlands Premier clubs capture of Stevie G!!!
Hi all, I have an ew bet but in my cash out option it is showing the first two horses as losers, any explanation welcome...please see attached.
I hope you cleaned up on the Appleby/Buick four timer. Annoyingly, I only intended to back the two in the last two races and with Buick on a hat-trick, the bookies were miserly with Key Victory so I left it alone and I knew that they would not get generous in the last with Symbolization after the other results. I expect they have already taken avoiding action on Appleby’s two in the 1000 Guineas (if I can decide which one to back) and Wuheida was already forecast to be odds-on in the Dahlia even with a Group 1 penalty.
I agree that on ratings Havana Grey looked like a penalty kick. Answering way after the fact (that must be some sort of ‘after timing’ so perhaps I should revive that old thread?): at this time of the season, a three year old sprinter would need to be an exceptional sprinter to beat the older horses. If you look at the racing calendar, you will find that most pattern sprint races until June are restricted to three year olds or to four year olds and up. I am sure they had a good reason for taking their chance in the Palace House. Maybe they wanted to find out if he was a superstar or maybe they could not find a more appropriate five furlong warm up race for whatever race they are targeting.
As I was at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon, I did not see the ITV coverage. I wonder if they showed the entourage that accompanied Sheikh Mohammed, Princess Haya and Sheikh Hamdan. I kid you not there must have been half the population of the United Arab Emirates with them and nearly an equal number of security people. What chances does anyone give Donnacha O’Brien of keeping the ride on Saxon Warrior in the Derby? Given that he only probably had the ride because Ryan was on the other side of The Pond, I suspect not much chance. Unless of course something else from Ballydoyle wins one of the various trials between now and June impressively enough that Moore deserts a Classic winner that he never won on.
Anyone backing Mendelssohn should take the american odds, 6/1 over there, incredibly My Boy Jack is the same price at 6/1, 25s into 16s here. The weather has ruined the race imo, almost certain that some of the major players wont go in the slop.
