    'Dave' has racist connotations?

    Do elaborate please.

I think calling NW 'Colin is perfectly acceptable. It is used almost exclusively as a term of endearment, and has been reclaimed from all the haters. I really can't see it as being a negative at all. I would be interested to hear NW's views on it though.

From my understanding it has something to do with 'League Of Gentleman' and the character 'Papa Lazarou'. I personally dont watch the programme but know the character and his reference to 'Dave'. I know the character isnt racist and im sure it wasn't applied to Pat in a racist way but i've heard he does see it as not very nice.
As i said i might be wrong but a mate who met Pat at the Player Of the Year do a couple of seasons ago mentioned it to me.

What a complete load of tosh. This sounds like a case of "Here's the answer, now what was the question?"

You can create any question to fit your own agenda.

How about Dave, because Trigger in "Only Fools and Horses" calls Rodney "Dave" in error ... and we know that Rodney is a plonker ... therefore Pat Agyemang is a Plonker.

If the name was created as a rascist slur against Mr Agyemang then something would have been said and done years ago. It's not like this is a new thing.

    -----------

Try this one. Damien Delaney was called "Donkey" ... why?

    1. He has big ears.
    2. He is hung like a ......
    3. He is slow and cumbersome.
    4. He is known for kicking out backwards to catch opposition players on the shin.
    5. He can regularly be heard braying during matches.
    6. He has told everyone that he likes walking up and down the beach with his kids on his shoulders.
    7. He always backs losers at the races.

    --------------

"Colin" came about because of a rather unfortunate anagram of Warnock's name.

Maybe we should call Patrick Agyemang "Ken" because of the anagram "Pragmatic Gay Ken"

There are more. How about "Gay Prick Magnate" or " I'm a perky gang cat" or "Tracking mega pay".

Eamon Holmes- Whoooa easy tiger...dont shoot the messenger. As i said i was told it in good faith and to be honest he didnt look too pleased when someone shouted Dave from the Paddock at him last season as he warmed up.
It might be a 'load of old tosh' as you so elequently put....or it might be the truth. You and i may never know.......

Not having a pop at you Staines, but just fed up with people trying to make something out of nothing. (Not you, you are just reporting it.)

I have also added a few anagrams to my post.
