At 5.30pm on Saturday, so much is at stake Will we be going to Aston Villa next season....or Accrington. Will we be looking forward to playing West Brom.....or Wycombe Amos, Fosu, Konsa...its inconceivable that any of our best players will stay if we face a further season in League 1. As I said to FHB last Saturday, it was nice to see a Championship-sized attendance back at the Valley [no need to fiddle it], and a proper Championship-like match atmosphere. Bowyer has done a fantastic job, and the leaders in the team - Amos, Bauer and Pearce, have really stepped up in the last 3 games. We need more of the same from them at Rochdale, and a bit more from our strikers and creative players. Rochdale are in the Bottom 4 for a reason...they are sh1te ! I think we are going to do it.
I have been saying all along that we will not make the Play Offs. In typical Charlton fashion we will lose at Rochdale.
We will finish 7th... a 1-0 loss in the 87th minute to Rochdale..... Plymouth and Scunny to draw 1-1 tomorrow night.
After the run we've had under Bowyer I don't see us slipping up against Rochdale. We do lack creativity without Fosu, but there is such determination not to concede that I think it would take a better team than Rochdale to beat us now. Our back 5 are exceptional for L1, and as we have seen we only need to score one.
I hope Lee Bowyer makes it clear for the lads that there's no need to worry about other games, other results. Just go out and beat Rochdale on the day. Job done and we can look forward to playing Shrewsbury or Rotherham in the play-off semi-finals. If we score first Rochdale will have to come out after an equaliser, and we can get in behind them. My prediction: 1-3 away win.
it would be nice if we could rest players for rochdale though. so i'm hoping for plymouth to lose tomorrow
The only downside of reaching the play off semis is a trip to either Shrewsbury or worse still Rotherham on a Wednesday night Its going to be a two days off work job - hope nobody resigns that week.
Lee Bowyer has said he will be making changes at Rochdale on Saturday, with one eye on the gruelling play offs. Common sense rather than over confidence IMO.
I'd expect Aribo to come in for Reeves. Reeves looked done in, and Aribo should be given a chance to stake a claim for that slot. He's physically stronger, can hold off a challenge. Ajose and Magennis together doesn't work, and Zyro will probably come in for one or t'other. DaSilva for Page probably.
Hopefully Mr van Gerwen will keep us updated of the day in Rochdale. I presume he is the (r)sole representation tomorrow on this board.
I’ll be there, staying in Manchester tonight. Looking forward to a pie - apparently Rochdale do the best in the football league.
Actually I am thinking about going its less than an hour from my house.. Would offer to buy him a beer but suspect he would insult me by refusing the olive branch of hospitality. Anybody else apart from Don and Royston making the trip? it might make up my mind.
Not for me to point it out but Wigan do the best pies.. The town population are known as pie eaters! I can sense all us northerners look the same to DC,
