Sunderland host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship
    SAFCvWWFC.GIF
Last time out Sunderland lost at Fulham and Wolves drew with Sheffield Wednesday.
Robbie Stockdale will take temporary charge of Sunderland’s final game of this terrible season, following the events of last Sunday with Chris Coleman and Kit Symons released from their contracts and Ellis Short announcing that he had agreed to sell the club to an international consortium led by Stewart Donald.
Wolves, having already won the Championship title, will be looking to celebrate with another win to reach 102 points. A victory for Wolves would mean they have beaten every team in the Championship at least once this season. Ivan Cavaleiro is unlikely to start having missed their past two games with a hamstring problem.

    Robbie Stockdale:
"It was a shock (to see Chris and Kit leave). They were excellent to work for and great people. They will have numerous opportunities to get back into football."
"There is an uncertainty around the building at the minute but we just get on with it. Hopefully with new owners they can turn the club around and get it pointing in the right direction again."
“There will be lot of young lads in and around the squad on Sunday. We have a duty to our supporters to make sure we perform. We had Bali (Mumba) on the bench on Friday. The exposure they are getting will do them the world of good. I have been proud of their progression.”
    Nuno Espírito Santo:
    “Blah blah”

    Match facts:
    • The Black Cats are winless in their past six league matches against Wolves (D2 L4).
    • These sides have not met at the Stadium of Light since April 2012, a goalless draw in the Premier League.
    • Sunderland have lost eight of their past 10 final league matches of a season (W1 D1) with one of those defeats by Wolves in 2009-10.
    • Wolves, meanwhile, have won their final league match of a season in each of the past four seasons since losing 2-0 to Brighton in 2012-13.
    • No Championship side has lost more points from winning positions than the Black Cats (28).
    • A Wolves win would see them hit 102 points for the season and be the first side since Leicester City (also 102) in 2013-14 to win more than 100 points in a season in the Championship.
    • Ruben Neves has scored six goals from outside of the box this season - two more than any other player in the division.
Sports Analytics Machine: Away win (66%)

    Match Appointments:

    Team Line ups
    Sunderland:
Steele, Matthews, O’Shea, Kone, Oviedo, McNair, Honeyman, Robson, Molyneux, Asoro, Fletcher.
Substitutes: Stryjek, Hume, Wilson, McManaman, Mumba, Maja.
Injured: Watmore, Browning, Ruiter, Williams, Gooch, Love (all out for the season), McGeady, Jones
    Lost: Rodwell
    Locked up: Gibson

Wolves: Ruddy, Batth, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Saiss, Neves, Douglas, costa, Afobe, Jota.
Substitutes: N'Diaye, Gibbs-White, Miranda, Enobakhare, Hause, Norris, Bonatini
    Injured: Cavaleiro

    Betting Odds:
    H 17/4 A 8/13 D 3/1

    My two pence:
It’s been a quiet week really - not much going on <whistle>
    • Another away defeat
    • Change of ownership
    • Another manager sacked
    • A new era about to begin
Maybe the players will put in a bit more effort for this last game.
My guess is a 2-2 draw

    Other games in the Championship:
    Second automatic promotion place
    Birmingham vs Fulham
    Cardiff
    vs Reading.
Cardiff need a win to go up, and if not, Fulham will go up with a win.

    Final playoff place
    Derby vs Barnsley
    Preston vs Burton

2 other teams to join us in League One
    Bolton vs Forest
    PNE vs Burton
    Derby vs Barnsley
    Birmingham
    vs Fulham
    Cardiff vs Reading

Really not fussed at all about this one. This will be the first home league game I've missed in 4 years. Complete non event of a game. I wonder how many other season ticket holders are just gonna not bother for this one.

Everything about the stats and the respective positions of the teams is screaming out "home win".

    2-0 Sunderland.

The new owners will be well aware of the potential the club has, one last game of a miserable season when we're already down will have zero effect on anything to do with the takeover.

I can't be arsed either. I'm looking forward to next season but I've got better things to do on a Saturday for now.

In football you can never be sure, Wolves could surprise everyone and pull off an unexpected win

Missed a few this season due to other commitments but I’ll be there on Sunday for the finale. I’m assuming they won’t be so crass as to have a lap of dishonour at the final whistle.
Then I’ll be back in August for the dawning of the new era. Hopefully.

Ethan Robson, Honeyman, Asoro and Maja must play if fit.

We need to use this game to give the kids who will hopefully be big players for us next season one last chance to play and experience a home match in the league against some quality players before next season in league 1.

Did I 'go over the top' last night ?
If I did, I apologise, but it's just that I can't imagine me ever thinking like that, and I was shocked at that attitude (although I know that some of us do think like that) :emoticon-0112-wonde

I could not agree more. It's a pity that we have not seen a bit more of them already, cos these four compliment each other and hopefully are here for the foreseeable. My one criticism of Coleman was his insistence on playing young loanees at our own players' expense, which backfired on him badly imo. The central defence might also have benefited from trying one or two options of our own, other than the temps, who let us down long and short term.

Part of me wants Wolves to be under the weather after excessive celebrations of their league win .
The other part of me can't be bothered, I'm away for the weekend and travelling back Sunday pm. So will catch up with the result when I get back.
Sorting out my garden on Monday feels more important at the moment, how bloody sad is that.

I think most of us are in the same place and just waiting for the purchase to go through so that we can start again from scratch.

My missis is taking me back into London (I ****ing hate London) for a show tomorrow night. Hotel all booked up so everything out of my hands.

I'll hopefully get home by lunchtime Sunday just in time to listen to Wolves ripping us up a new one.

She's also booked the movies on Monday afternoon.

    Just ****ing shoot me now!

On the plus side, hotel plus missus and no kids usually means something good...
