Match Preview So here we are, last game of the season, with nothing to play for other than the chance of moving above our rivals with a win, and a slim chance of moving above Ipswich as well with a big win. We could also drop two places if Forest or Sheff Wed win and we lose. Interestingly, Leeds have been pretty consistent this year home or away. They are currently 15th in the league if only away matches counted, with 24 points, and 12th if only home matches counted, with 33 points. We, on the other hand, lie in the relegation zone if only away matches counted, with 15 points from 23 games, but sit happily in 7th if only home games counted, with 41 points. (check it out here; http://www.sportstats.com/soccer/england/championship/). Leeds may be happily mid-table, but they are justified in considering themselves a massive club in terms of attendance, with an average home attendance of 31, 590 (2nd in the division behind Villa) compared to our measly 13, 928. It only goes to prove, quality not quantity. For both clubs, obviously, scoring goals has been the problem, with Leeds having scored 57 to our 58. Both clubs have top scorers who have only just made it to double figures (Matt Smith on 11 and Pierre-Michel Lasogga on 10). So, the two previous Premier League members find themselves fighting for places at the lower-mid-table end of the Championship, a seemingly sad story, but that is not it. We have introduced a number of new young players this year, which gives me hope. If the likes of Eze, Smyth, Manning and Furlong continue to improve, it bodes well for the future. Hope those who are going are able to enjoy a great day out to see out the season. Enjoy, and have a good summer one and all! COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!
Evening Hoops fans. Feel free to join in our match thread https://www.not606.com/threads/leeds-utd-v-qpr-match-thread.361608/ I will post a stream just before the match starts (on both boards)
Didn't think it was worthy or appropriate for the match day thread, and a bit soppy so sorry, but I'll be watching this game with my daughter in my arms. Born on Monday evening. Took a while deciding on a name, but my wife likes old Victorian names. She is called Roberta, but we'll call her Bobbi for short. According to my wife, after Bobbi from the railway children, according to me, another Bobb(y) springs to mind.
That is probably pushing it. Anyway, enough of this baby nonsense, is anyone actually making the trip to Leeds on Sunday?
Many congratulations Dave. Nice name Bobbi.....just think when you are settling her to sleep you can sing....."Oh Bobbi(y) Zamora" to her endlessly.....just like we did at Wembley.
Congrats Dave and no I won't be in Leeds on Sunday. Will be at home, showing a stream to some "Dirty Leeds" mates who are coming around for many beers and a little banter. It's 9.30 on a Sunday night, so shouldn't get too messy. I have however planned a trip to UK in September so am hoping for some kind fixtures to get my Rangers fix while there.. Primary purpose of trip is my god-daughters wedding on September 1. A juicy home fixture on September 4 would be ideal...
Wowzer!! Massive congrats. You could have called her Olivia Bobbi Zara or OBZ for short!! More seriously, HUGE congrats. Steel beat me to the link.
Yep - will be there with my son Could be busy in Leeds as it is Tour De Yorkshire at the weekend too And at the National League play off match at Tranmere on Saturday too
Congrats Dave on your new addition, I assume Sunday will be her introduction to a lifetime of misery supporting the R's Going back to the memorable games for us oldies this is the finest when we were League Champions for 10 days in 1976, enjoy
