Ha ha, I don't know your name, you don't normally respond to Sunderland posters. So I must have you rattled. Yes?
If Joselu is on the reported 50k he needs to go. We need that money put to use. We could get 2-3m for him prob and wages are large. That’s a mid table average wage. That plus 60k off Mitro plus say 15m-20m. That goes a long way towards one striker who is of use to the manager. He doesn’t want Mitro and Joselu is just plain not good enough. I’d keep Gayle. He is useful as a runner stretching teams. Misses too many chances to be first choice but not bad back up if we look for gradual progression. I personally don’t think the 5-6 overhaul is realistic. I’d rather we spend our money wisely and try to get some quality. I look at Kenedy and the quality his boost has brought and I’d rather more of that.
Can't say I'm bothered to be honest. I'm not seeing Salami being anything better than what we have. He does wave his arms around a lot when he gives the ball away like the rest of the team aren't "reading" him though. That'd piss me off if I was on the receiving end.
Same conditions for both teams though. Hardly an excuse. We lost because we have too many average players who don't consistently put in good performances, and too many of them had off days in the same match so we were ****e overall. Nowt to do with how wet the pitch was or "rookie" referees.
The pitch isn't an excuse, but it is a concern. It probably helped us against Arsenal and hindered us against West Brom. There were times we were in decent positions and players were losing their footing. I can remember both Gayle and Ritchie going to ground in very good positions. If we are going to get better players we don't want them hampered like that. You're right about too many players having an off day. Too many were very lethargic and just not at the races. Despite that though we created chances that could have seen a different result. We may not have deserved it all that much, but we would soon have forgotten that. It was a bad performance, but not that much worse then some of our others - just like some of our recent wins were not that much better than others. We've done well this season with what we have, but we need better.
it was a straight forward answer to the question posed by Mbemba As you have brought it up ("rookie" referees) I'm just wondering at what level is your refeeeing standard so you don't think it strange that we have had more games reffed by "rookie referees" than the entire top 6 teams ? you don't think it strange that Simon Hooper a Championship ref has only reffed one premiership game, us and has never reffed another in the premier ? and you don't think it strange that David Coote a championship ref, refereed us, his first premiership game ever on Saturday and no doubt will not ref another I'm not saying that they should not be blooded into the premiership, I'm just saying we have had more than our fair share of this standard this season 2b or not 2b that is your answer
I agree the pitch, or the new Mackem boot cleaner, had some odd impact in both matches. Honestly haven't seen our lot needlessly slip on their arse that much since Merino was trying to win us penalties earlier in the season. It doesn't explain the **** performance but seemed to have been a contributor.
It was the same at Everton, players were slipping all over the place. My mate said the groundstaff watered the pitch at halftime despite it already being soaked.
It is normal that we've had more referees than the entire top 6. They are high profile games which are notoriously more difficult to handle - I don't think anyone would dispute that. That may seem a little unfair because there is just as much at stake for those fighting relegation, but they will be put under too much pressure. Its the same with semi finals and cup finals. High profile games always attract the top refs. I personally wouldn't change that. Not the place for a rookie to cut his teeth. They are going to look to the rest of the league to bring them on. If we want to get away from that we'd have to improve because they certainly won't be throwing their refs to the wolves.
Aye but if the refs are anything like the ones we've had this season, they'll probably give a free-kick to Wolves
See Slimani's been charged. He needs kicking out of the club immediately. The sooner he's gone the better. Maybe I'm just cynical in my old age, but was it anything other than a deliberate act to get on holiday asap?
