A home tie against Charlton or Preston is the reward for beating Swindon if we can break that hoodoo too. I hope we continue to take this competition seriously as I can see us progressing well!
I hope for a strong team as I'll be there watching, and I reckon Adkins will choose one. We need to bounce back quickly before the break, this is a good opportunity. Team for me: -----------------Bialkowski-------- Butterfield----Fonte-------Martin---------Fox De Ridder---Cork-----Schneiderlin---Lallana ------------Lambert---Connolly
i think we may play a very strong team in this game due to the imminent international break, and in an attempt to bounce back from the loss today
I agree with this as I'm sure NA won't want to go into the break on the back of 2 losses for psychological reasons. I also think as a good Championship side we could do well in this competition which will give some players a chance to get some match practice and winning always feels good.
We must make sure a winning mentality is instilled back into our team, ready for the international break. My team would be: Bialkowski Butterfield Fonte Martin Dickson De Ridder Schneiderlin Cork Holmes Lambert Connolly Subs: Davis Harding Seaborne Hammond Lallana Forte Guly
Like your thinking Joe.......the only one I would change is Guly for Connolly. Need to give him a good break. Also this is the last game for Chappers suspension is it not?
Do we know how well tickets are going. They are available from the county ground on match day and I don't want to go there if they have sold out.
Thanks DTLW........I didn't think it was worth a cross thread to the Swindon board as we don't usually get a reasonable response from them and the banter is never brilliant so have given it a sticky .......unless of course............?
For some reason Swindon always seem to do well against us so feel this will be a close one. Team: Bialkowski, Butterfield, Martin, Seaborne, Dickson, Forte, Schneiderlin, Chaplow, Holmes, De Ridder, Lambert
Doesn't feel right playing away in a cup, does it? Luckily, if we win, normal service is resumed against Charlton/PNE.
Even with the international break, I'd still rather change the team. This is a chance for those on the fringes to prove themselves, and if I was one of them I'd be disappointed at having that chance taken away from me by the manager sticking with the usual XI. Bart Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson De Ridder Chaplow Morgan Holmes Guly Forte (Assuming Jaidi and Barnard are still injured)
it'll be a strong team because of the break. hopefully we can embarrass swindon at their place, something we didnt do when we were in league 1. who'd have thought, just over a year ago after getting to the playoffs that they would be two divisions below us?

I think Lambert and Connolly will definitely be rested. I am surprised so many people are keen for De Ridder to start. From what I have seen he has pace but lacks discipline and will take time to learn. I think Holmes and Guly will play as one needs match fitness and the other needs to recover from an average game.
De Ridder is very talented and will only improve with game time. From what you said about discipline, the only way he will learn is if he gets experience and the perfect oppurtunity for him to learn is to play in the Cup.
