Tom Lacey steps his Aintree handicap hurdle winner Jester Jet up to Grade 2 level tomorrow at Sandown. Plenty to find with some of these on paper but as the old addage goes "You've got to be in it to win it"
Not running in the Grade 2, old boy. Been taken out and goes instead for the concluding contest - the handicap (5.15).
Hello, all. I had been expecting to nominate a few on the Flat but, in reality, find those cards somewhat lacking. My best advice would be in the concluding pair of contests at Sandown Park. War Sound (4.40) – this 9YO was a very good hurdler peaking at 148 and also winning a ‘Swinton’. He is though 0/7 over fences. However, because of this his perch over the big ‘uns is a much lower 139 and I think War Sound can oblige off this mark of the morrow. Has been beaten narrowly in both his previous 2 races and his conqueror last time at Uttoxeter, Ballyarthur, obliged in a £17k handicap chase earlier in the week by 8 lengths. The horse 10 lengths behind War Sound, on that occasion, has also won this week as well (£20k contest by 4.5 lengths) to make that Uttoxeter form look very, and I do mean very, solid. Ordo Ab Chao (5.15) – this one in 2014/15 was a high class novice hurdler, in the county, for Alan King winning 3 times (including at Grade 2 level) and going off at just 9/1 and 12/1 for Grade 1 races, that term, at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. Ordo Ab Chao was then off the track for 2 years before returning with a couple of lacklustre runs. Another year off followed before the old boy returned, in the care this time of Olly Murphy, on 7 April and ran an eye-catching 4th at Fakenham doing all his best work in the closing stages. It would only be natural to expect Ordo Ab Choa to improve massively for that run and 129 looks very low for a horse who achieved what he did (rated 145 and thought to have a very bright future) – albeit 3 years ago. The forecast price on Attheraces is currently 20/1 but I wouldn’t be surprise to see a plunge re this horse – nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more… But the main event tomorrow, team, is not the racing but the crowning of Lieutenant Henderson as my champion, your champion, the forum’s champion and the nation’s champion. God bless him and save him. And I hope they go right to the top re the person to make the presentation. I’d like it to be either Mrs May, if affairs of state will allow, or Princess Camilla. Good luck all.
Surely BLAKION wins the B365 Gold cup - even tho he isn’t well handicapped on figures his class makes him well handicapped
Anyone local to Leicester lads? McCreery sends Downforce over there tomorrow This horse needs very soft/ heavy going to be seen to best effect.

Mullins has 14 horses in the 5 35 at Punchestown tomorrow LOL they really need to start introducing horse limits from one trainer in races. this week has just been ridiculous and it's pretty unfair to other trainers even just trying to get some place money in these type of races. 14 ****ing horses in one race ffs it's mind boggling and more than 50% of the field
And 2 of the 3 reserves. Just in case. There was a couple of posts earlier in the week from people saying they had a preference for the Punchestown "festival" over Aintree. I presume they were tongue in cheek comments tagged to the Punchestown festival of comedy.
And in the "Champion 4 year old hurdle" ( )........ .......We have 9 runners. 6 for Mullins and 3 for Elliott. And in the "Mares Champion hurdle" ( ) Mullins has a mere 7 of the 12 runners! It maybe the Grolsch and assorted meds....but I'm finding the Punchestown festival extremely funny!
It's a joke, there was something yesterday where it said if Mullins was on zero for the championship and merely started his count this week at Punchestown he'd already be 2nd in the championship I know it's not Mullins fault he has loads of good horses, but 14 horses in one race and 7 of 12 in others etc, it's just unfair, feel sorry for people like Noel Meade and De Bromhead etc plus the smaller trainers. Hard enough to ever beat 1 Mullins horse especially not 3-4+ of them in every race where they just fill all prize money slots. It's bullshit and totally unfair
I'm heading to the last day of the joke festival with a group of mates.Any fancies/tips appreciated so I can pass them off as my own and look good!!! Ps Agree with the Mullins/Elliot dominance being not good for the game.I can see alot more of the smaller yards packing it in.We have already lost Charlie Swan,Colm Murphy and Sandra Hughes recently.
Do agree it isn't great when fields are dominated by two trainers but that's mainly down to the trainers battle between the pair. I guess it's fair to say though that these pair dominate whatever festivals they show up as the last two Cheltenham's have shown, its hardly like the English trainers were cleaning up race after race in their own back yard. As Ted Walsh says its no wonder they don't venture over to play with us in our patch! Be nice to see more attempt it mind you. Sad to see smaller trainers going out of business, but isn't that the reality of commercial business in the world. In terms of a balanced debate its notable to point out Gordon Elliott came from absolutely nowhere to get where he is now. He wasn't a son, grandson of a Walsh or Mullins so it is possible to succeed if you're good enough. Nice to see a spread of owners winning for Mullins too, his first 12 winners were for 12 different owners, as were his Cheltenham winners all different owners, absolutely smashing the one or two owners dominate myth to bits.
Agree with everything you say Beefy and I would also add that Gigginstown and JP do spread their horses around to give other trainers a chance. Whilst the likes of Henry de Bromhead and Mouse Morris do pretty well, some of the others haven't and the owners act accordingly by withdrawing their horses. Except that dick who owned Flemenstar, should have left him with Peter "sex bomb" Casey
