Already signed it a while back, if atmospheres in stadiums are to be improved there needs to be a section of safe standing IMO. Generally, people don't sing or chant sitting down. If you want to sit down then you can, but there ought to be a section where you can stand if you want to.
It's not really 'unworkable' though is it. A general rule of no standing in designated lower rows and/or tolerated standing in designated upper rows would relieve much of the aggravation. Does the reduction in stand capacity for non-designated 'seating' still apply to safe standing?
If we apply tbe same regulations as in Germany the problem wouldn't apply as you get a ticket for a numbered place, you can't justbstand where you want.
It wouldn't as you will still have people saying they have paid for a seat and demand the right to sit down. Others will say it is unfair they are expected to sit low down with an inferior view. The fact remains standing in seated areas is potentially more hazardous than safe standing areas. It is irrelevant anyway as the regulations would have to be altered as clubs can't say that it is alright to ignore ground regulations, if, in the unlikely event of something going wrong the lawyers would have a field day.
At the moment it's the worse of all world's, with it being allowed/tolerated on an ad hoc basis. The lawyers should already be having a field day. I don't actually like the safe standing as it's proposed anyway. It's still just cattle pens. Sadly, the demographic change the legislation was designed for has been achieved and someone ate the golden goose egg.
Well, I wouldn't mind a safe standing area like Dortmund's, complete with people coming round with beer dispensers. Irrelevant at City anway as so few stand up.
Most of one stand are already stood up and it's unlikely that any club would introduce safe standing in more than one stand.
Exactly how many people are stood up in a less than full North Stand as quite a few remainbseated most of the tine anyway. They have safe standing behind both goals at a number of German grounds. Is it a coincedence they have a better atmosphere and the largest average crowds?
Most of the North stand are stood up, that's why they're in there, because it was designated the standing stand. Obviously the atmosphere at any game is better when people are standing, it's why many people prefer aways, when most of us stand all game. please log in to view this image
